Hello Tacoma World! Where have u been all of my Tacoma owning years? I am new member Booboo & I am in need of assistance from all your knowledge if I may take some of it. I have a 1997 Tacoma 4cyl automatic. No modifications that I know of since I bought it. I hope I haven't screwed it up by putting 17" Mitsubishi wheels on it. That having been said I'm sorta stuck with those wheels for now. My question is what's gonna b the best size tire to put on those wheels? If you would please respond please keep in mind I am on a limited budget but desperately need new tires. I sure would be very appreciative of ANY suggestions. Thanks again & I'm very proud to be part of this group. I LOVE my Toyota!!

Welcome. I’m not sure about 1st gen trucks, but 2nd and 3rd gens can usually fit 255/75R17 tires with no lift and minimal risk of rubbing. You could also stick with the stock size, although I don’t know what size that would be for a ‘97.

I definitely recommend lightweight tires, regardless of which size you get. Rotating weight is bad.

Thank u for your replies to my post. Looks like I need to read up on how to respond to anyone with suggestions. Hope u all get this "thanks" reply. In regard to the dimensions of the 17" wheels, I'll have to find out from my brother. I bought them from him. I've been reading about tires all morning & my brain is on wheel/tire overload. I appreciate all the answers tho. I'm gonna spend this afternoon reading up on how to use the Tacoma World forum tho. Thanks again for your responses. I'll b an interested new member observer till I have this figured out!! Take care...
