not seeing inflammatory at all. I have neither insulted you nor anyone else. and I still have not seen a fully thought out definition on unqualified in your argument.

Nice, I see those Rays a fair amount and they always look good. 265/75/16, 265/70/17, or running bigger than that?

This, but the cooper's run about .4 bigger than the nominal size. 265/75R16 is mathed to 31.6" and the tape measure says 32" even.

That’s cool. Just went to new tires, was very interested in going that size. But what I wanted only comes in stock size, 265/75/16 not avail. Maxxis Razr AT’s. But I can still dream and drool over other people’s setups.

There’s no reason to start arguing and getting a thread shut down or people removed from it.

Pretty sure by “training”, people are saying:

    - Military
    - CC class
    - Shooting class
    - Practice more than a box of ammo and calling it good.

Not every state has the same requirements for ownership.

I'm in the "Always Carry, Never Tell" camp. It has been MY experience, that open carrying in and around town, is just as much or more looking for attention. I could be wrong, (it's happened once or twice). But that's been my experience with the ones I've interacted with.

i hate to tuck my shirt so it's concealed carry most of the time because of that. my best friend however is a khaki and polo tucked in all the time kind of guy. so he open carries everywhere. it's not about attention, just his dressing style.

I'm not seeing anything more than a discussion on the requirements for cc/oc. that's no reason to shut down a thread or bounce people out. Words have both connotations and denotations. Words such as "training", "qualified" and "unqualified" can be severely subjective.

assumption of what others may have intended with their words. this is why i said that goal posts can be shifted about when sufficient training is considered trained.

as a military vet, you cannot assume all military members are sufficiently trained. not all jobs within the military keep up with weapons training.

Tires and wheels seem to be the antidote to any heated gun conversation.

For what it’s worth I’m a CCW permit holder myself, but don’t carry. Ever. Haven’t personally seen the need to, but wanted to be square with the legal req’s in case I choose to in the future. If I do carry it will be concealed.

I take the concept of firearm ownership and carry pretty seriously. Any day you’re carrying can be a day you potentially protect yourself or a loved one, on the other hand it can be a day that potentially leads to life altering criminal or civil outcomes if the wrong decisions are made or the legal process goes sideways. As with anything, I advocate for responsibility and sound decision making.

So...back to wheels and tires then or do we talk suspension now?

In the moment out and about with a LCP in right front pants pocket, summer carry. G19 winter carry or if I'm going somewhere with an elevated risk. Threw the AR in the trunk a few times during all the riots. I will not be a victim.

This is an excellent point. I’m not arrogant to the fact not everyone should own a weapon.

I grew up in the rural south and lived in the woods during hunting season. I earned my marksman skills by actually killing things, things that were usually in motion. I was taught gun safety by my father and started shooting before I could ride a bicycle. I have a CDWP thats good in 35 states, don't care to visit the other 15. Only time I open carry is when I go fishing, not sure why but always have.

Many military specialties don’t involve firearm experience beyond initial training and then a periodic range qual, yearly. And that’s more often than not a rifle qual only, not pistol. Depends on the individual specialty, rank, unit and billet.

This is the case until deployment but depends on deployment type and location. A military member / vet may have handled a weapon daily. Or just once a year. Wide variety of experience levels. The average law enforcement officer has spent more time with a pistol than an average armed service member.
