Im currently looking for the best drop in filter. For the most part these company's don't post there filtration percentages. The AFE PRO 5 R (oiled) does however, and they claim an impressive 98.6 percent efficiency. What do you make of this claim Chris 4x4?

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
I bought a K&N for my 06 and put 175,000 miles on it. I then transferred it to my '13 and now my '14. I think it's safe to say that my K&N has almost 200,000 miles on it and it still looks new. Did I save any fuel, probably not, did it give me any extra power, eh, probably not, did I save money on filters, most likely.

IMO, if I ran my 06 for that many miles and it still ran like new, the K&N filters are safe to use.

Chris 4x4 just has me a little paranoid :bananadead: I guess I'm confused how K&N and othe oiled filters are able to advertise such high filtration rates when most stats disagree....

I have the Afe Pro Dry S with the charcoal filter removed. Every oil change I wash the filter out, let dry then reinstall.

4 year old thread. Might be a bit before he answers. :D

That said....I use an AEM DryFlow, made by K&N. Half the price of the aFe ProDry for the V6. http://www.aemintakes.com/dryflow_air_filters.htm

    200,000/30,000= roughly 7. $12 per filter x 7=$84. Yeah, you're probably ahead by about $30. I'll stick with paper.

What paper filter are you using that's good for 30,000 miles, that's only 12 bucks?

I'm on 60k with my oem, paid $45 for 3, that's good for 180,000 miles but I think I'll keep going on this one, filters gradually become more efficient at stopping dirt with age. :crapstorm:

18.75 here, which is about what they wanted at my local dealer, on a whim I said how about 3 for $45, and they said yes.

    60K later I still have 2.
