Hey, If you want to get a lifted 06 Tacoma 4x4 DBCB Long bed I'll sell you mine for $17,000 I'll even give you the bed extender and bed mat. It's a fun Tacoma, and it's been used for off-roading a few times.

Good to know. The BB on it was 24 but they said the 40k miles added 3k in value. kind of confused.

im in no way set on the truck, i like it but not set. I would consider a private party sale i just gotta sell my current car.

    Thanks again everyone.

Honestly, I can care less who Ivan Stewart is. I wouldn't pay extra for his shitty taste in wheels and inflated aftermarket parts.

O.P. part of the fun in owning a tacoma is choosing and or installing your own parts. I would rather buy an off road or sport and save a lot of money.

KBB, nada, etc., have calculations for mileage. Not an option for the dealer to add on top or to decide. Gullible person type of truck in my opinion. If the trd off road or sport didnt come locker/lsd i would have settled for an sr5. Just a gimick

OP, I'm in your same position. I was going to buy '05-06 used for <$20k, but couldnt find anything worth it. Then I decided I'd buy an '07-09 used for ~ $25k, but for only a couple more grand than what those were selling for, I could buy a brand new truck. So that is what I'm doing. I went to the dealer today to sit in my first Tacoma and loved it! Now I'm just waiting for info to come out on the 2012's before I make the leap.

    So here is the dilemma.

    Edmunds says its worth 20k
    NADA says its worth 24k
    KBB Says its worth 28K

I thought about going for a brand new one, but id have to save for another 6 months or to keep my payments where i want them to be (<400).

I think i'll tell them 24k out the door is as high as i'll go based on the couple of blemishes i found and research.

Sounds like a good plan. The used market is crazy high right now, which is another reason I'm buying new. But if you found the one you love go for it :)

I just realized your from seattle. Are you looking to buy in reno or seattle? There isn't crap in the north west. Everyone wants too much. Makes me want to sell mine and break even.

From seattle, in reno/sparks area till probably january.

Ya its a little disheartening to think a truck 5 years old (almost 6 in model years) will go for 26 grand when it retails for 30.

I am not specifically attached to this truck, I saw it and started looking into it. Walking away won't be hard if they can't get down to my price. If it was a black long bed it would be a different ball game haha.

I'm in Denver the used tacos are crazy high here too, the cheapest used I found close to me was a 2007 dc trd or with 117k for 21975.00 I just bought a 2011 dc trd or with the tx pro package for just over 30k but if you were to finance that with rates just over 3% you'd still be lookin at about 600 payment.

ya tryin to stay under 400. I have a lot of friends who pay 600 plus for car payments, they still live with their mommys and daddys though haha.

Just remember probably 95% of all used cars and trucks for sale on dealer lots are marked up a minimun of $3000-5000 from what they paid wholesale for the vehicle (trade in value). Try offering say $4000 below what they are asking for the truck as a starting point.

I think you can find a better truck elsewhere. Trust your gut. Id go with a new one. Do your own mods.

    Layne,

I saw your add when i was searching online last night actually! Truck is sweet and the price is right, location is even better. I am holding out for a truck with less miles though. I really appreciate you posting this for me though. GLWS.

Thats a bad deal. I paid $23k last weekend for a mint loaded 2010 TRD off road access cab 4x4 with 4.0L, automatic, tow package, and 35k miles on it. Shop around, there much better deals out there. Plus personally I'd be leery of a lifted truck unless I knew the person I was buying it from.
