My brother found this 96 4Runner for sale. The seller is asking $9000. It has 260K miles and is in pretty good shape. The frame looks good and the interior is nice as well. Any opinions? Is 9000 fair?

If the title is clean, the frame is good, and things like the A/C all work properly then I would negotiate; I don't care if it's a Toyota...

Nine grand is too much for any vehicle with 260K miles!

That's a lot for a vehicle that old. That being said, I love that generation 4runner. My 98 was bulletproof. Only problem in 300k was a starter relay.

That is 5,000 more than I paid for a similar one about 10 years ago. Texas kept no rust and and everything ran great. Depending on where you live if that's what they are going for you may be better off looking out of state.

Bilsteins 5100 set at .085 Rear custom 1" add a leaf 265/70 R17 tires. Custom made aluminum tonneau cover with bike rack. 4x4 conversion with 4Runner transfer case.
That is a big nope. You can find a 2006 + for that price.

Hard to judge because nowadays location seems to be the driver behind prices. That’s standard for Texas, ca, pnw. For those on the east, that’s expensive. I have a 3rd gen with a new engine and modded nicely I’ll be posting for around 15. I live in Texas so i figure I’ll come in somewhere around 13. Remember it’s worth what you’re willing to spend. I’ve been in the market for a 1st gen DC tundra for a little over a year now and it’s hard to find a decent one under 150k miles that’s not going for 15k plus. Best luck!

I just sold my 2004 4Runner with 261,000 miles on it for $6,500. That felt actually a little high to me considering I bought it 8 years prior for $9,000 with 143,000 miles on it. I think you should get it down if you really want it, 9k seems high. When I sold mine like model years and miles at dealers on Craigslist were going for $9,500.
