Making something "good" or having it "look right" is 110% subjective and relative to an individual's preferences and purposes.

If you like it, that's ultimately what matters. Do what you want, have it the way you want, and mod it to your tastes. And most of all: enjoy the ever-loving shit out of it.

All that said, I think it's a nice rig. I'm not big on the brush guard but that's just me.

Can you post a picture of the Tacoma? - I can barely see one behind that massive black fence! ... :D

    :boink:

Only kidding! - but you may detect that I think the bush guard is a bit too much even in the case of a zombie apocalypse...

However, I do agree that building a "good looking" truck is up to the taste of the driver.
The proof is that every Tacoma you'll see here is somehow different from all the rest due to the owner's tweaks... even if minimal.

We all go out to make our Tacos the most awesomest Tacoma in the world... with many different results!

Hey welcome to TW and surprised your thread has stayed pretty decent even though you asked such an open ended question! I think your truck looks cool and about the brush gaurd, well, mine came with it, and I thought it was too much.

but once I put some bigger tires and a small lift, I feel it fits the truck alot better now.

Also not too concerned with the "damage multiplier" aspect of it myself, as I know its going to stand up to small or medium hits that would otherwise go straight through my plastic grill or bumper...

Right and wrong are a lot of times a matter of opinion. Do what you want and forget everyone else's opinion, they aren't paying for it.

I agree I'm saving for a lift and tires soon. I have to ask what tire and lift are those that looks great.

    OP,

I think you have a nice looking truck.

I get that there are a lot of comments saying "you are making the payment and what you think is all that matters." Of course, we all know that. We understand you are the only one that has to live with the truck so in the end your opinion is the only one that actually matters. Get that. That horse has been beaten, so to speak.

But I think what you are looking for is feedback. You are looking for ideas. Inputs. Suggestions. Food for thought. I get it. Lots of good designers bounce things off people for their insight ... because they are looking for feedback ... whether they act on it or not.

    In that spirit:

Not a bad idea to think about what kind of look you are going for ... are you looking to have that rock crawler look or are you looking to have more of a stealth look? For me, personally, I like the more stealth look. What I mean by that is a truck that looks like a normal Tacoma that has a few things done to it that says "hey, I mean business." Instead of the more obvious "I climb boulders for a living." That is just my preference, of course. Right now your truck is kind of a mix of both and so I think it is not succeeding from an overall design experience -- if that makes sense.

I think the Red is really great. Love the color. But too much red can be a bad thing. With that much red on the truck I am not sure you need any other red accents -- it seems a bit trying to hard. Too matchy matchy. So, for example, I would lose the red on the grill. And not have the red stickers on the back. But again that is just my own design preference.

I am personally not a fan of the front bumper / guard rail. But that is just me. It is too much and there is too much going on. Again, this is just my own personal design sensibility. I understand your need to have protection on the front of the truck. As you say, it has already paid off. I think the overall look of the truck would be much nicer if you had a front bumper that was far less busy.

Just throwing some things out there for your consideration ... only because I think that is what you came to the community for and asked for .. best of luck to you ...

Look like we found a new name for it!

    “The hater multiplier”:D:D:rofl:

Honestly I dont think it looks horrible, but with that being said, without anything on the back end (camper shell, bed rack, etc.) it looks “unbalanced”, from a visual standpoint.

    all tore up already
I'd lose the bar thing contraption on the front. Its ugly and a huge damage multiplier if you rear end someone or hit something. The impact absorbing bumper cannot function, you now have broken both headlights, hood and grille. Possibly frame tweaked also but the attaching points are usually too flimsy to do anything. And the steps can go too unless you are really short. Even lifted on bigger tires the tacoma is not a tall truck

Like the other mods though, next I'd be looking at stance. If just for looks, wheel spacers and small lift. If serious about off roading or spending money, wheels and or tires to get flush and add just a lil height with new shocks(I'd really recommend these just for the ride quality)

Also the lift and tires that @CrazyAirborne did definitely makes it look more balance, for sure

Don’t worry about other peoples opinions of your truck. Make it the way you want and have it for your needs.
