    Hi!

Finally ready to take the plunge and get my first Tacoma after drooling over them for about 20 years. This will be a weekend warrior, few thousand miles / year. Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but would love some thoughts on this truck for sale:
    http://www.minnowmotors.com/mobile/...931&Guid=76cfb8c2-96dd-4734-9ce6-d1c913de886b

I also asked for an undercarriage pic:

The autocheck seems fine and there is a 60 day warranty (not that I'd hang my hat on it). I figure I can get it for about $10.6k.

I haven't seen it in person yet, but looks pretty clean and a decent price.

    Any thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response! Any specific reason? Miles too high? Pics not good?

My budget overall is in the $10-12k range, and want the access or double cab.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What's your main purpose for the vehicle? Off-roading, daily driver, towing, camping, little of everything?

Light commuting around town, hauling off brush to the dump, Home Depot runs. No major towing or work needs but might haul a trailer or log splitter here and there.

    I'd go for it

Only concern is it looks like the body is rusted?

I think it wouldn't hurt to check it out, but when you go get under the vehicle and check that frame out. Take your fingernail and try to see if any big pieces fall off, especially by the catalytic converter. Here's a thread on rusted frames issue "where's them rusted frames" most all of these issues are in your neck of the woods. So I would be extra cautious and the extended warranty protection from Toyota only applies to those that have owned the vehicle since December 2015. Toyota frame settlement postcard

NADA has retail at $16.2k and clean trade at $13.2k. So the price isn't bad as long as it isn't rusty. Getting it for $10k is probably overly optimistic though.

The frame looks coated, and that it may be hiding potential rust. Read that rust thread and find the problem areas, and bring a hammer and tap the frame in those areas. If the frame is solid, it looks like a good buy.

The guy has come down to $10.6k already (plus tax, tags, etc). It's really tempting, but the undercarriage pics are worriesome. I agree it looks coated and I don't know enough about cars to trust myself in testing it out.

Really amazing how these trucks hold their value. I'm wondering what the sweet spot is to get more comfortable. Maybe the $15k range?

Not necessarily, I would question every single Tacoma in your region 2k, 10k, 25k because of the frame issues from that area.

Do you have a local garage that you trust that would do an inspection before you buy it? That undercarriage would make me a little nervous....Maybe cost you a few bucks for peace of mind

Used vehiclehistory.com to check the vin. Looks like a two owner vehicle, no accidents here's the link 2008 Tacoma. It's not as complete as a car fax report but does give basic info. Here's a Tacoma local for me for sale with a car fax report. Local listing.

You can see a decent amount of underbody rust. It also appears that some type of coating was applied over rust on the frame. For me its a rust thing, Miles and all the rest are moot if it will fold in half in 3 years.
