    @NY NooB

    Be carful with the coating which may be masking further issues.

    Buy with your brain not with your heart OP. Buying a discounted truck with questionable structural integrity may lead to disastrous ownership.

    This is all really helpful information, thanks, everyone! Sounds like I should pause and maybe take it to a mechanic and definitely keep looking. Any suggestions for reputable dealers either locally (NYC) or nationally would be helpful. I don't mind shipping if getting out of the area means rust free!

    That price seems too cheap (10,600), and that frame looks coated . That would worry me AND the mileage is high imo

    Just my 2 cents

    I got a '07 TRD Off Road with 80,500 miles with a all recalls done (frame, lca's, compass, etc ) 1 owner and clean car fax for 13,400(not including taxes and tags) just for comparison

    You're in a high traffic port city. Check Carmax and have one shipped. My opinion on the posted one is that while the price is right for the pocket, it's wrong for the vehicle. The county I live in is the size of Connecticut and I drove 3.5 hours to get my Tacoma. Make it worth your time and money. If this is also something you've wanted for 20 years, be wary of ads that aren't enthusiastic about the truck and just have that bullshit sales-pitch exclamation point enthusiasm.

    Again, you've waited this long... If you really need one, I have a great 2007 you can look up here, with 65k. I'll sell it to you for 15,000 firm American dollars more than you currently want to spend, and I'll even drive it to Manahattan if you pay fuel and get me a burger at Clark's.

    Yep, there's tons of them in Alabama and Mississippi too. Very popular trucks down here.

    I have to say though, if you buy one from a southern state, and then take it up north and drive it on the salt, it'll just end up in the same shape. Tacoma may just need to be a summer only truck up north.

    Sorry to get your hopes up , I was just trying list everything that was done to my truck for the OP so he/she could get a idea of what may be out there to buy . I knew the frame was done and the underside of my truck was immuclate when I bought it . I THOUGHT the compass was a recall fix also , my bad

    Eh, there are some owners in the north that have been pro-active and their frames look good.

    This is why it pays to do your homework , you don't really know what's been done to a vehicle unless your the original owner
