woo x2 on the 2800bs  works great for me. better audio, built in Bluetooth capabilities, comes with mic, allows me to connect my back up camera which I will be doing that mod as soon as the weather warms up a little more.

Well the shop owner is going to replace it for for free since everything he installs is a free 1 year warranty on parts & labor

The wiring has been checked numerous times and have had the firmware updated and still having the reboot problem

Funny thing is if I turn the key to on wait a few seconds somewhat like waiting for a diesel glow plug then start then the radio boots up normally . its just when you go from key on to start quickly is the problem

glad to hear that hes going to replace it for free, that's always a bonus. That's a pretty weird symptom hahaha that would most definitely be annoying, especially on a new unit lol

always helps to do some research, but sometimes I don't believe all the negative reviews, some people just like to complain haha I also don't always believe the positive reviews either, half the time it sounds like someone was hired to write the review hahaha but after reading enough stuff your kinda able to make your own consensus.

Agree. OP do it yourself. Crutchfield has all the connections you will need to make it plug and play. Like Jamie said, match the wires up with the harness they send and plug it in. Save that money for a set of speakers.

fair enough, yeah I tend to trust forums more then reviews on a website that sells the product. its nice to hear a real world review so to speak haha sucks your hu has issues tho, I mean, you pay for quality and end up with defects lol not fun, hopefully with the new unit you wont be experiencing the same issues.

Thanks man, I talked to a guy at work that has upgraded the HU in his Ranger and now his Tacoma. He seems to think we can swap it during lunch in the parking lot. When it comes to car audio he does good work so that, and based on what you said, I think I'm going to go this route. Save the hundred bucks for other mods. I appreciate the advice and the vote of confidence.

So my buddy is going to install the HU for me. He says I need a switch that connects with the parking brake wiring. I assume this is to watch videos, any idea what part number I need and is it available on Amazon.

Sounds like he is literally talking about a switch. Like a toggle switch/rocker switch. That's an easy way to install the parking brake wire and a lazy way to install it too. As for the owner it's an annoying process to do for something so easy to have it done automatically. No switch needed and don't have to have anything mounted or drilled into your truck to take away the integrity ( provided you care about that ). Yes a switch will work .50 to $4/5. Or do something that is automatic and that is behind the dash and wired up with the harness. Microbypass for your model number off eBay or Amazon or PAC audio TR-1 ( which I use a ton of these ). Choice is yours and how you want to go about it

I may not be using the correct term...maybe it a relay? I don't want to do anything cheesy to my truck. I'm sure he'll do a good job, maybe I just misunderstood what he needs.

Most newer pioneers you can't use just a relay. They use a double pulse. Look up microbypass or PAC audio tr1... done and done

    Jeff

This is what my installer did by using a small micro switch (red one visible on l/ side of console ) so I can watch videos while driving . The micro bypass didn't work so we opted for a small micro switch , if anyone asks what that switch I just tell them that a nitrous arming switch LOL !!!

I have yet to have a tr-1 not work nor a microbypass. There are different ones for different pioneer stereos because it's basically a voltage dividing regulator inside. That being said I suppose there is a first for everything. As done above and stated, you can def do a switch. I personally don't like switches like that in the truck and I want it to do it automatically. Just me though.

With the bypass installed and e brake off it wouldn't allow access to the video screen menu and it wired correctly

We then tried the micro switch and that allowed access to the video menu with the e brake off . also the switch is mounted to one of the screw holes so nothing was drilled and can easily be relocated if need be

I was thinking of putting the switch next to the bass volume control but decided against that

My new4100NEX head unit is supposedly being delivered tomorrow to the car audio store so the installer will install the new HU. maybe the video menu/ parking brake problem was related to the other problem which was the annoying 2 min reboot issue I was experiencing

Make sure that your unit has the latest firmware. Pioneer about 2 weeks ago released an update for the unit AND Bluetooth. Kinda big file. Just make sure the installer does the update. All the nex got updates

    Hey Devil Dog,
I think I was looking at the same stereo. I am just looking to use the hands free and maybe play pandora from my iPhone 7.
Would you buy the same stereo again?
I think I saw it at Best Buy......
