They aren't redesigning the Tacoma for 2016! I'm sorry but if they were we would have seen some test mules by now and camoflauged models driving around somewhere.

The only thing I have heard is that the suspension is just the Baja suspension, the only difference being the grill, hood scoop, and color matched mirrors, bumper, and grille surround.

You are correct about the front shocks (my bad) but incorrect about the springs. FWIW, I got the information from this article on Motor Trend

Yeah my bad I was thinking that was in response to the Baja package, not Pro. If it is the Baja suspension then I'd assume same eibach coils and crap.

I tried posting a couple of hours ago but it got lost in cyberspace.

Some really good responses, thanks alot. I'll give a little more background that I should have included in my original post. My reason for thinking of moving to a newer model is because I'm nearing retirement. About 2 1/2 years out. At the time I retire I would like to have a vehicle with low miles because I don't know if I'll be able to afford the payment after I retire. Doing a deal now would allow me the time to pay it off. Plus end up with lower miles at that time. Does this make sense?

Some of you are correct, I do like a nice vehicle and my Baja has been very good. Its a black on black. Subdued looking yet something different. I live in a very rural area and use it for hunting, fishing and general running around. Do I need a Baja or the Pro? But I like it and can afford it now.

My dilemma is deciding between the '14 Baja and the '15 Pro Series Tacoma.

    Thanks, Jim

    Forgot to add.

My mileage on my '12 is 29K with a potential 60K at retirement if I kept it. And less then half that at retirement if I bought a new one now.

I understand your reasoning Jim. I stick with my opinion that you sell your truck private party and then get a '15 Pro. Cool looking and more unique than the Baja. Plus potentially will give you more time to sell your Baja private party, not as if it won't go quick.

I could be wrong, but I think they're essentially the same truck, except for the grille, graphics and hood scoop.

If you can wait a few months, see what kind of price you can get for a '15 Pro.

Would it be fair to guess they'll cost a bit more since they're only producing a few thousand of these?

Aren't the trucks for the most part the same, minus the new grille on the Pro and a couple other minor differences? Might as well just wait for the '15 if you want a new truck that badly. If it were me I would just keep what you have since you're essentially taking on payments just to have 30k less miles.

And to think I thought I was getting rid of my Taco too early last year when I traded it in at 4 years old and 55k miles. Even at 60k if you kept it that's barely broken in.

Whatever you end up doing, it looks like it'll be win/win since the trucks are so similar, and you like the one you have now.

Do you plan on getting another black one?

the TRD pro is the same as the TX BAJA - which is the same as the truck you are driving right now. I had the same question and ended up deciding to buy a 2014 - I still love how even in this thread there are those "you can do it better cheaper icon LT blah blah" guys, I bought a toyota supported product and put a toyota supported supercharger on it so that I could go to toyota when things went wrong...

I say keep your 12, and buy neither - but if your choice is a 14 or 15, they are identical trucks with the exception of the grill and the one unique color for TRD pro - but that also mean syou can't get barcelona red any longer which I think is a better color anyway.

News to me... I didn't know the Baja came with reservoir shocks on the rear and Eibach coils in the front with 2" lift over the Off-Road and Sport....

    +1

You already have a great truck live with it a little longer. If your hell bent on new, 2015 is just around the corner.
What color are you wanting? If you want the Orange, then the Pro. If white or any other Baja color then get the Baja now.

The only difference between the Baja and the Pro is that you can get it in Orange and the grill....Big Deal....The Pro will be in White, Orange and some other two stock colors. The Pro is no big deal at all. Pro = Baja, Baja=Pro

For the record, I wanted a Baja, I was going to buy a Baja. I hate the Baja stickers though. Also the louder exhaust note was not appealing to me. Then I looked at it's stance next to a 3" lift. I really liked the 3" lift look better. So I bought the Offroad and spent 2K (parts) $400 (labor) on the lift and 1K on the wheels. Now I have my Baja that sits two inchs higher than the rest of the Baja's out there. Best part, I have the truck I wanted for about $1800 less than I would have paid for the Baja and no silly stickers.

The Dealers in my area charge a premium for the Baja and less for the Off Road.

Now, your excuse, "I don't have the time" is bull shit. I paid someone to do my work. I dropped the truck off in this morning, picked it up this evening. If you have deep pockets that's fine spend your money get what you want. But look at a 3" lifted truck and see what you think.

The only real advantage to buying a Baja over a standard Offroad is the Baja has a warranty on the offroad added items and the drivetrain. No chance of voiding warranties if you leave it stock.

Why not just wait for the redesign. With all these rumors I would just wait.

Yes ,another black one. If another Baja, I like the subdued look of the stickers over the Red/Black or the White/Black.

Oh and a fool and his money....Nope. Just trying to plan ahead.

I just noticed that the Pro Series has a color matching rear bumber that I don't care for. So the '14 Baja is back on top providing I do decide to move my '12 Baja.
