Bottom line, if your going to haul people, DC would be the right choice. I like the AC and if we are going to cart people around, we take the Wife's Buick...

Love my double cab long bed.

When I bought it I was looking for a new regular cab but couldn't get one (all were sold under cash for clunkers). Then this one came in off lease. Best decision I ever made.

RIP to my 08 Prerunner DC
I say Access. You get a back seat, and the long bed.
But yes you will have to open the front door.

1000 for the extra space...no question. your already spending that kind of money...you'll never walk away and say you wish you didnt have that much room, but there is always a chance you will say you wish you had more room.

That's only taking interior room into account.

I'm sure there are situations where having that extra foot in bed space would be more useful then an empty back seat.

    Just sayin'

Get a DC longbed, or use a bed extender on the shortbed. I've hauled more people than I've needed the extra foot of bed space. Read through some other posts, there are easily more folks on here that are regretting buying an AC and wishing they got a DC instead.

yep...you can always drop the tailgate but you cant create more room in an AC

All I'm saying is that it comes down to individual needs.

There is no 1 size fits all truck, there are pros and cons to every configuration
Ie: price, interior space, wheelbase, overall length

In OP's case, the price difference between the 2 models is negligible, but here in Canada, based on form factor alone, the difference between an entry level 4x4 Access Cab and a 4x4 Double Cab is $7000...

I have no use for your 5 seater, 4 door as I can count on one hand the number of times I've had more then 1 passenger but have hauled long objects (ie sled) and vice versa, you'd rather pay more to have the usability of a 4 door 5 seater as it suits your needs better. A regular cab owner might think we're both fools.

Bottom line is that there is no wrong answer as far as I'm concerned. Only 1 that is slightly better for your needs.

    back to bone stock.
depends on if you plan on carrying gear/junk/cargo...or if you will carry people.

my car is primarily my hunting, yard debris rig. i opted to find an AC over the DC. i have ridden in the back of a DC, and the room is fantastic!!

I like my AC cause no one ever wants me to drive, they simply don't want to sit on the back.

i like to tell my friends i bought my truck for me.

not for hauling them around :p

i love it for a little bit of extra space for helmets/cooler or something small i don't want flying out of the bed. and just enough room to leave my friends uncomfortable :p

access cab all the way!! :D
