Opinions/experiences buying an OEM LED headlight with broken tabs

I plan on upgrading my headlights to the OEM LED headlights. As you all know, they are not cheap (~$1300 for the set new). There is a plethora of used headlights with broken tabs and scratched lenses on ebay that have been pulled out of salvaged trucks that have been in accidents. There are even a few that are in decent condition and include the broken tab(s). I found this video that shows how to repair a broken tab fairly easily. I am wondering if any of you have had the experience of buying a broken tab headlight and repairing it. If so, was it worth it? How did it work out? How well did a tab repair hold up?

 

Toyota actually sells repair tabs for headlights on certain models, the Tacoma is not one of them. Despite this, repairing tabs can be very done effectively… go for it.

That's promising to hear, but disappointing that there aren't tabs to buy for the Tacoma. But I'll take that to mean that repairing a tab is a perfectly reasonable thing to do and potentially a good way to save a good chunk of change.
