That is some killer MPG. I don't get even close to that and i think i drive conservatively. Best I have done is 23 but i had to run 60-65. Maybe it will "break-in" as I only have 3K on it now. But damn I love the manual trans.

There was 1 mile on mine when I drove off the lot, from day 1 it has stayed pretty much around 20 MPGs, my best tank was a little over 22.

I test drove an auto and didn't like it. Ordered an MT without a test drive as there were none available and picked it up yesterday. I'm pleased with the MT.

Same way I got mine, got an extended test drive of an automatic and hated it, ordered a manual.

That 23 i got was on one 200 mile trip home from the dealer with 5 miles on the truck. I really don't drive highway much so i am happy with my MPG. I fill up at about half a tank and it's mostly town type driving and tank average is 16.5 almost every time. Seems reasonable for the driving I do.

Don't recommend the automatic. It has been very problematic for many.

Manual has been great - 1st is good for street driving but not ideal for super slow 4x4 work... low helps quite a bit but don't like to be stuck down there all the time.

i would have only bought the MT so there was never a question of AT vs MT for me... MT or no purchase.

that said i bought my truck as a fun and usable dd. if it was strictly a work truck i could deal with anything including a total POS auto transmission with shit software. but that's work, not fun or fulfillment. just sayin.

Once I hit 12-15k it really settled in and is quite consistent now. Maybe its break in, maybe its getting more familiar with the truck, who knows. What I do know is I'm driving this one much harder than I drove the auto and am seeing better mpg and performance 100% of the time. I drove across South Dakota with the cruise set at 85 and and it had no issue maintaining speed and still got 16 mpg. When I tried that with my auto, it shifted back and forth and would accelerate then upshift, slow down cuz it couldn't maintain it, then rinse and repeat. I think I ended up at 13 mpg in the auto trying to do 80 (which is the speed limit on the interstate in SD).

The tank I had at 24 mpg was on the interstate with the cruise set at 65 with 87 non ethanol gas. I've had a couple tanks better than that, but those were coasting downhill in Colorado so I don't count those.

As long as you want a double cab. I wanted an access cab, so had to get the automatic.

If you want the TRD OR with 6MT, you can only get a double cab. You can get the TRD Sport access cab with 6MT.

Had a 17 TRD OR auto MGM and hated it so much I traded for a 17 TRD OR M/T MGM. Both loaded with tech/premium/sunroof. Much happier, only miss the JBL and driver door unlock sensor. Don't miss the silly push start, but wish the key folded into the fob. Truck moves out nicely, even better now with OV 1.01b tune. Can't wait for OV 1.02.

I test drove an AT first and was not impressed at all. 2 weeks later I found a MT 100+ miles away, and ended up driving it home that day. No regrets. They are harder to come by, but if you're on the fence, don't settle.

So dumb... I also get 19-21 mpg with my MT unless I am on the highway at 75+.

there have been a few who purchased the auto/smart key casing and transplanted the MT key internals to it. not a big deal to swap but it did take a little dremel action.

It's also a fully synchronized (lower gears are triple cone IIRC) gearbox... even reverse. The more miles I put on the truck, the smoother the shifting has become.
