After spending the last few weeks reading everything I can here about all things Tacoma, I'm almost afraid to ask this question of this group :crapstorm: ....but what do people think about the Limited trim? I'm going to be buying in the spring and my first choice would be a PRO, but for my usage a Limited would probably serve my needs just fine.

I'm going to be trading in my 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD, so either way it will be a big upgrade (except for the torque and MPGs:oldglory:).

This might seem like an odd comparison, but here is my thought process:
    • Want leather seats, not aftermarket leather seat covers. I like the black of the PRO much better than the hickory in the Limited.
    • Resale value is important. I know Tacomas have excellent resale value in general, but does that hold true for the Limited as well? My perception is that most people are looking to buy a Tacoma for it's 4x4 capabilities, not it's comfort and stereo. Since the PRO is more rare I feel like it would be very easy to get top dollar for it in a few years if I decided to sell it.
    • Building a Limited on the Toyota site with the add ons I wanted puts me at about $42k. I see them advertised for anywhere between $38k - $41k online without some of those options. Most PROs I see advertised for $44k - $48k.
    • Limited has a better stereo(?) Can anyone with a PRO speak to the difference? Either way this is an easy upgrade.
    • Limited has a moonroof. I don't need it and it sounds like it decreases the amount of headroom?
    • Price-wise I can afford either but I think the PRO is overvalued once you get past $45k. (I know many think it is overvalued at far less).
    • From what I can tell, the Limited has a pretty standard suspension (Hitachi shocks?). I'm assuming the PRO would actually ride better on the street as well?
I like that with the PRO I get a really nice limited edition stock truck that I can just put a cap on and maybe someday upgrade the stereo. With the Limited I would immediately change out those ugly wheels and add a cap but it won't likely hold it's value like the PRO. What would you do?:boink:

I agree with the post above, it seems like you're trying to talk yourself out of the Pro. If you can afford both, get what you want, not what you try to talk yourself into.

Limited will have lower resale as no one besides the AARP crowd wants one

Was it that obvious? I do like everything about it. But I don't see much talk here about the Limited so I thought I would just ask since that is my 2nd choice....

That's what I was starting to realize when I came to this forum and never saw a mention of the Limited.... I'm not that old. Yet.

Pros don't hold crazy value compared to TRDs just look at used pros. Get what you want all tacomas hold the same resale percentage wise to msrp. Contrary to what the pro gang here who is convinced they have collected items.

Are there any used Pros out there? I don't even see used 2015 Pros when I search for them to check the prices.

Between Limited and Pro, go Pro all the way. The price difference is negligible.

Between either TRD and Pro, depends entirely on future plans for the truck, desired mods, etc.

Welcome to TW, and your fears in joining the 3rd gen discussion are well founded, but there are some guys who will honestly help you compare the two. Either way, congrats on the purchase proposition of your new truck! (Pro gets my vote by the way...)

Don't forget... if you opt out of the "moonroof".. that pkg. of goodies go away with it... You cannot just say "no moonroof".. You will lose some real nice goodies with it... Head room IS a problem with that Moonyroof... pisses me off..!! Check it out yourself first my man..
Limited or Pro... that's your choice alone... Don't blame us for your mistake... hehe.... If you NEED leather, then get the leather...!! I would not give you 2 cents for it, but that is ME... (I hate leather).. Gimme cloth any time...!!
Good luck on your purchase... I'd say the higher $ you go, the less you might get on a trade, as most of those top-of-the-line, options do NOT relate to resale value.... Buy it, keep it for 14 yrs.... you got your $'s worth...

    My 2 Canadian cents ....

Yeah, other than a cap and a bedrug and different tires when the stock tires wear out I would be happy with the Pro as it is...

If you are under 6ft 4 consider the Lack of headroom to be another way to lean back.

I don't hate cloth, but I know myself and the first time I spill my coffee in my lap I'm going to be screaming "why didn't I get the leather!". Mostly it's just easier to keep clean IMHO. Thanks for the advice!

I have Katzkin aftermarket leather and love it. I wouldn't buy a Limited just for the leather. I did some negotiating on the leather to sweeten the deal, as well as the predator steps.

I'd do Pro or TRD. Pro only if you are going to use it, if not, save a ton and go TRD.

Can I ask what you got the price of the katzkin covers down to? I have a set of coverking leather covers in my CRD and they are comfortable and look ok, but it's still obvious they are seat covers (mostly on the headrest part).

I'm in the AARP crowd and between the two I would take the Pro between the two. Its much easier to upgrade things on the Pro to limited level than vice versa.

In my marketing mind I don't see the Limited as all that desirable. If you want a luxurious pavement princess that looks like a truck there are better options than a Tacoma.
