People have got to stop posting this guy. And I am pretty sure that when he drove the new Tundra he loved the big screen.

I find Scotty’s videos more enteraining than informative as his opinion will see-saw back and forth.

I like the bigger 14 inch screen but I’m also coming from a 01 Prerunner. I feel like the 8 inch too small. I would’ve liked to see what a 10/12 inch standard screen would’ve looked like.

Everybody bitching about the new screen - check out the new Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon. You have to use the touchscreen for everything in those trucks, even the headlight controls .
Im generally a fan of big touchscreens - they make maps/media/etc easier to view while driving, but not a fan of all the controls being through the touchscreen. Toyota has done a GREAT job separating the other controls out of the touchscreen. HVAC is entirely separate as are heated seat controls.
Also, Toyotas new touchscreen interface is awesome. It’s speedy, not glitchy, intuitive, and works well. We have the new system in our 2023 RAV4 Prime PHEV.

Alright I watched a walk around vid on the sr extra cab and the interior looks fine to me. I think OP got ahead of himself.

I do think it's a bit silly to put the rear view camera on the dash. Would be curious to try it above the rear view mirror, or mounted in the rear ceiling, facing forward, so I can see it when I turn my shoulder or in the mirror.

I don't like the integration..or should I say lack of integration of the screen on the 4th gen. The large one looks like an after thought or an iPad propped on the dash. The size is fine, the integration not so much.

I will forever hate Elon Musk for putting a giant fucking iPad in the center of the dash and calling it a day.

Cars and trucks should have the speedometer and tach central where the driver can see them quickly.

Important controls, such as climate control, radio, volume, four-wheel-drive, should be accessed by big analog controls with tactile feedback, not through a menu.

Any screens should be dimmable or have a hard button to turn them off where they don’t become distracting at night.

I looked closely at the Tacoma implementation. From what I can tell just from pics, Toyota did a good job of providing knobs and controls. Better than my fancy new X5.

If you use maps, the screen will be beneficial. Id prefer to have something mounted on a dash vs having to mount an iPad. Also, the way its designed leaves room for aftermarket later on. If you look at the way the Ranger is setup, its going to make it a specialty item to replace. The new Toyota stuff that pokes out appears to mount similarly to classic stereo systems. My wifes Rav4 has that setup, and its easily upgraded with an after market unit.
