Before I got my Rav I thought for sure I was going to get the Crosstrek because they look damn cool. But, when I saw one in person I was so turned off by the cheap hard plastic interior that I never gave them another look.

Maybe the motor in my Lesbacy will blow up before the factory warranty runs out. No mods, and all maintenance will be performed at the dealership.

My wife drives a ‘16 SE AWD. She absolutely loves it. We have driven all over the SouthEast with it. For a 4banger it’s pretty peppy in sport mode.

Oil consumption is an issue for sure. We had a Legacy before the rav4. Anyone claiming they didn't have consumption issues were just not checking it. What a hassle to always be out there adding oil. Road noise was insanely loud as well. I've moved on from Subaru for good. The Crosstrek will also have 25 fewer horsepower, and a CVT transmission which I don't care for.

We bought my wife a 2016 in January. My biggest gripe is the steering, it’s electric assist and way to light. When driving it directly after my taco I find myself kind of weaving just because the wheel is light as a feather compared to any hydro system. Other than that the things been nails, not a single issue. The 2ar-fe is a well proven engine, it’s god damned bullet proof. We use scion xb’s as work vehicles that have the same motor with 200k hard driven (3k over oil change almost regularly) miles without a hiccup.

Toyota will rebuild the 2az engine under warranty up to 150k miles, just had one done at 145k lol

SWMBO got a 2016 XLE AWD a couple of weeks ago to replace her '14 CR-V. The RAV4's ride is much better. It is plenty peppy for our use. The jury is still out on MPGs. One check said the dash readout was significantly higher than real life. It indicated ~28 vs 22 or 24 calculated, as I recall. Further checks are in order before I make a judgment. That is significantly less than we got with the Honda, which did 32 to 37 MPG.

FWIW, I am always cautious about buying the first model of a redesign. I'd rather wait for a year or two to make sure all the bugs are out.

I bought my '17 Taco new in October "17.

That same week my wife bought her new '18 RAV4 Limited.

She freaking loved it then and still loves it today.

I test drove it prior to purchase....and I had to admit the leather, sunroof, roomy driver's console and all really was nice.

The TSS stuff sorta freaked me out.....but I got used to it later....and grew to like it.

I really like the leather dash !!!

The rear seats recline, too. This came in majorly handy when we took her RAV4 on a family vacation a couple months later. Our son is 6'9" and sat in the back with his girlfriend the whole way there and back.....7hrs each way.

    RAV4 ran great.

With as much praise as the Rav4 is getting in this thread from Tacoma owners. Toyota might very well build a Ridgeline like vehicle.

BTW I can't find a reason to dislike the RAV4.

Honestly for what they are they are pretty great and compared to the other options in this size vehicle its head and shoulders above the rest.

I see the Lexus NX shares the same platform which makes sense. When will the RAV4 have TRD pro model?
