I am debating buying a 2022 TRD OR with the tech package, leather seats, and sunroof.

    1. The tech package doesn't appeal to me much, should it? I prefer the chrome bumpers and this truck has painted bumper and the sensors.

    2. Is the leather good? My 2010 cloth seats (217k) are still rip-free, a lil discolored, but I'm curious how the leather seats hold up over the years. Chime in if you have high mileage 3rd gen leather for better or worse.

    3. Sunroof people... Any issues? Again I could live without it. It seems fun but I would not trade fun for future problems.

The deal is really good, otherwise I'd just get the basic TRD OR trim w/o packages.

The only thing I’ll chime in on is the sunroof. So I didn’t realize this going in because when I bought my 2018 I had test driven one without a sunroof. You lose a solid 1.5in of head room with one. I’m 6’1 and if I sit up straight my hair rubs all over the sunroof bump. Just something to consider.

I’m at 110k and the leather looks totally fine.

IMHO stay away from leather it will eventually look like crap. I would pass for that reason and the sunroof.

The softex is pretty trash, i have certain sections on the driver seat that already appear almost white (cleaning with Sonax leather cleaner w/ boars hair brush and finish off with Koch Chemie leather conditioner)

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
You should probably pass for a cheaper example that doesn’t have as many features.

    1. Tech package is mostly additional safety features and advanced tech package has a 360 degree camera (multi terrain monitor). I don’t have the tech package on my truck and I still can live without it.

    2. No experience

    3. Can’t speak on Tacomas, but I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo with 65k miles that has a broken sunroof (can only tilt up, doesn’t retract back anymore).

My Tacoma doesn’t have a sunroof and I never missed having one, but some people feel like they must have it. Although the sunroof only comes as part of premium package, which also includes the tech package

I drive both the 22 sr5 and 22 Pro ….the driving experience between the two is almost night and day. I appreciate all included with the Pro- My ass really likes the leather in the Pro after a long road trip, and heated leather is an under appreciated accessory. I can do with or without the sunroof, but am glad it’s there.
Edit: Oh, and I think the tech package is useful.

I personally did not want the tech package in my truck

My 22 Pro has real leather …your's might too. It was a small reason why I didn’t get the 4 runner.

Mine is a 2020 Pro, I believe all of Toyota's "leather" is softex, not sure if this applies to the Tundra 1794 though

Pretty sure my 22 PRO has synthetic leather. With that said I'd choose cheap vinyl seats over cloth. Just easier to maintain and keep clean.

    I have tech.
Also on a previous 2nd gen.
    No issues with sunroof.
Leather holds up well and will last up to 10 years or 100,000 miles.
I've found just use warm water with mild soap. Don't scrub like crazy with hard brushes or cloths.
Treat with a good quality conditioner.
Leather is no different than cloth. It will eventually wear and then it's time for seat covers or re-upholstery.
If you're not into tech features just get something else.
    Just like paint color.
    Buyers remorse is not good.

Pretty sure that all 3rd gen"leather" is leather. 4th gen taco is synthetic. And you right, one can never go wrong with good vinyl.

The sunroof is the biggest issue. Will you garage the truck? If not, I'd look for another.

I have a 2020 - no issues with the sunroof. I love the heated seats it’s the only reason I wanted the upgraded package. Can’t speak to the seats since I put Clazzio covers on mine.

Since it’s used I’d look more at value - if it’s the best deal buy it bc it sounds like you’re whatev about the rest of it.

I have the premium and tech package but got the Sport.

I wanted a DCSB V6 with a manual. In canada it only comes in TRD Sport with P/T package or TRD Pro, toyota is sneaky that way :)

Anyways, I really love the leather and the sunroof. I did have my sunroof randomly explode while i was driving about 3 months ago. If you do your research its a thing on these trucks, not very common of course. Otherwise I use my sunroof all the time especially in the warmer months. If you are a tall dude, sunroof might get in the way because the headliner is about 2" lower than a non sunroof truck.

FYI, it is real leather where the ass goes. Bolsters and back of seats are pleather. I sat in this guys 3G TRD offroad with cloth seats and they were definitely less comfortable than my leather seats, so there is that.

I have about 60K miles and my leather looks amazing except for few wrinkles on drivers side bolster. The key is to clean the seats regularly so the abrasive soil doesnt damage them. Same goes for any fabric or surface for that matter. Part of my business is professional cleaning so i know a thing or two :)

I wouldve been perfectly happy with a DCSB SR V6 MT, but I will say that im glad my truck has a little bit of "luxury" features.

I find nothing wrong with a sunroof on a pick up. It's an option that some like just like other options. Probably not a good thing for a hard core construction vehicle, but most Tacomas aren't used for that.
