Need to add a brake controller to my 2016 DCLB TRD 4x4 Sport. My understanding is the truck is pre-wired for a controller, but I don’t know too much about the brands that are available. Which ones do you guys recommend? Does anyone make one that has a gain switch/knob that fits in a factory accessory blank without having to modify it too much?

    Redarc would fit the bill.

With this statement you pretty much eliminated all others but Redarc. Agree with prior posters.

Redarc works well and installs clean.

The Liberty model at $165 is rated for 2 axles, will be just fine.
The Elite model at $250 is rated for 3 axles.

A Tacoma has no business pulling a 3 axle trailer. ;)

Besides the axel and voltage rating of the Elite there is one more difference between it and the Liberty. The Elite has two modes of use: both have proportional where the controller decides what braking to apply whereas the Elite also has the option of the user adjusting the output on the fly.
