I have an Opt 7 LED bar that I really like but recently have had some issues with it coming on by itself. It has left me with a dead battery at the airport after being gone for 4 days and has came on in the middle of the night every few nights.

I have the wireless remote kit from Opt 7 and they have actually replaced that kit once because of this same issue but I still have the same problem. I have the wireless remote kit hard wired to the battery like they recommended but it seems I need to have it wired into a fuse that only has power when the truck is on.

Does anyone know what I can do? They sent some cords with fuses pictured below and I tried plugging the one that fit into some of the fuses under the hood and the light would never come on. Opt 7 only provided these instructions

"The white wire can be used in two ways: (the parts included for this installation is the long white wire with both ends soldered off, a short wire wire the a ring connector, and the 3 sizes of fuse taps.

First way is to connect the lights straight to the battery:
Step 1 : Connect the long white wire with solder ends on the white wire found on the wire harness
Step 2: Connect the short white wire with the metal ring to the long white wire
Step 3: Connect this together with the red wire which is the wire that goes on the battery.
(-Use this installment if you would like to have constant power going to your light bar )

Second way is to connect to fuse taps:
Step 1: same as step one above
Step 2: chose a fuse tap that will fit and use that to connect to the long white wire
Step 3: Find a place to put the fuse tap in that does not have constant power.
(-use this if you do not want constant power going through the light bar. This installment is best used if you have frequency issues with the harness)"

Below are some pics. I currently have the white and red on the positive of the battery and the black on the trucks ground. How would I wire this to a fuse so that it only gets power when the truck is on?

Does the wiring harness have a relay in it somewhere down the line from the pictures that you are showing? If so, I would guess that the relay has gone bad, and you need to replace it with another one.

That I'm assuming is the switch box for the remote kit, a relay is a small black square item that plugs into the wiring harness, as for wanting to only turn on when the truck accessory is on kind of defeats the purpose of the wireless remote unless your truck is on and your standing away from it and need the light bar on

The problem will most likely be in the RF transmitter for the remote control of the light. They all come with those annoying "FCC regulations" stickers where they tell you that they may get interference from outside sources. The problem is that a lot of companies that incorporate wireless capabilities using RF (as opposed to blu-tooth that is paired to a specific device) don't take the time to tune each product going out the door to a separate frequency. And since they are most likely sourced from the same plant in china, you will have matching frequencies in various items from different brands/makes/models. Rare, but not so rare that it doesn't happen. This is why sometimes if you buy more than one remote controlled doohickey at a same time, one remote will operate multiple doohickeys. I've had this happen with ceiling fans and AC units. PITA to wake up in the morning and all the lights are on and the AC is blasting. Sometimes the units will have small tabs behind the battery cover that you can move around to change the freq. that the unit is using and the receiver box will have corresponding tabs that you will have to also change to match. Basically your tuning them to eachother on another freq. which gets you away from the interference that is turning on your lights. Outside of this, wires and fuses aren't going to fix your problem. If the unit isn't tunable, see if the vendor would consider sending you out another remote with receiver box (most likely that red box you posted earlier). That might work.

    Good luck.

probbly uses the same frequency as a garage door opener. lol. We had some issues with some wireless winchs coming on and off because of the frequencies.

Exactly. You never, know but with all the remote controls in your house, you might be doing something similar to a neighbor and not know it. Meanwhile they think the garage is haunted.

Yeah it def defeats my original intentions but have it on at random times at night and coming back to a dead battery after a trip is a pain so I'm okay only having remote access with the truck on.

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but I bought one of these for my light bar, and was wondering if you'd managed to find a location for the fuse tap. Or did you just leave it in the always-on configuration and pull the fuse when not needed?

Thank you for making this post. I helped me wire this correctly and is working perfectly. I wired the white wire using the fuse tap to one of the headlight fuses and it is working very well.
