    Continuously Variable Transmission. It's basically like a snow mobile transmission.

    I rented a Nissan Altima CVT for work. Driving experience felt very numb and disconnected. I get the focus is MPG not drivability but it felt like a rubber band.

    Stickers and not enough wax
    The Prius has always had a CVT since the Gen-II body. It's a good transmission for that vehicle, but it ain't winning any races. It's only useful in computer-controlled vehicles (which is pretty much everything now). Depending on how it's programmed, it can keep the car in the "sweet spot" where RPM, HP, and torque are optimal.

    I mean a cvt would be a turn off to a lot of truck buyers but a hybrid model would sell well to fleets and people wanting a truck with really high mpg numbers.

    My sister in law had a nissan murano with the cvt, and it moved that heavy ugly thing around just fine. I wonder if the cvt is going to be replaced by these 8 and 9 speed auto though.

    Upon looking further into a CVT carrying Heavy loads I found that the Main Japanese tank uses a hydrostatic based CVT. So while they are about as fun as going to the dentist it definitely is possible to make a CVT work in a truck without losing any towing capabilities. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_10
