I currently have a trd lift (2/1) with 285s. what are my options to add an additional 1", maybe a little more to both front and rear?

You are reaching the recommended limits of the Tacoma stock IFS.

Options are to install a totally different suspension setup, or be happy with what you have. Guessing the 2/1 factory lift doesn’t pair well with 285s….

IMO I wouldn’t but that’s me. Do a little research on lift heights.

    Interesting scenario.

I had the TRD Lift installed back in April and riding on the OEM wheels/tires (265/65R17s) since then.

    Current miles: 36K+

My plan is to upgrade to 275/70R17s with a -10 off-set around 60K+ miles.

To answer your question...I would imagine you'd need all new suspension since as was said, "you're reaching limits on stock IFS."

What off-set is currently on your truck?

Nah man. It'd be a poor choice.

3" upfront leaves very little down travel. Really rough cv angles, pretty much a gaurentee for clamshell bushing vibes. You'll want to add angled axle shims to help with the driveline angles aswell.

I had mine set to 3" anticipating sag and an upcoming bumper install hoping it would settle around 2". The few months spent with the front at 3" was unpleasant, the shock assembly would top out on everything just made it sound like it was falling apart. Now with the extra weight and it rests around 2" it rides 100x better and rarely tops out. Takes alot to unload the front end to that degree now.

If you really want to do it I'm pretty sure your starting from scratch up front new shock/spring assembly and a uca to correct that camber. But be careful on what uca if it adds to much +castor is can increase rubbing. Rear it's either a full leaf pack or add a leaf with your existing block. Which can hurt your ride quality if your not adding additional weight. Then you need to check the stroke length of the rear shock to make sure it will accommodate the extra droop or if it will be fully extended and topping out much like the issue up front.

I’m looking at a one inch body lift to make my Tacoma have a better stance and paired with my 2/1 lift and 285s I think it’s might be just enough,

5100s are a great setup and punch well above their weight!
