Options Poll: FLYZEYE Designs, LLC.

Tough question. The 2012/13 models have a variety of colors within the interior illumination: white, green, red, a little blue, amber... It's a question that I personally cannot answer as many opinions differ. I am currently running a [R][W][R]-[Black] V2W but will likely switch to a [W][W]-[Black] V2W soon. That's just me.

If I am not mistaken, I believe this is what it means.

W = White primary LED
B = Blue secondary LED
W = White Halo's

If you look at their website, that is how it instructs you to order. [Primary LED color] [Secondary LED color] [Halo color]

 

Correct.

A - Amber
R - Red
G - Green
B - Blue
W - White

I love mine, but the dimming seems to not be working. I have to have a wet finger, and it is either all the way bright, or very dim. Is that normal?

 

The dimming on V1 and V2W units operate slightly differently. On the V1 units, dimming controlled by the TSDC contacts on the front face. The first few times, the unit will likely run fast. The reason, is that a built-in capacitor in the dimming circuit requires a charge. To charge the capacitor, press and hold the contact pairs for a few seconds (each pair) and then try to set it again. IF the problem persists, then there might in fact be a problem.

On the V2W units, dimming is primarily controlled by the Tacoma dimmming circuit. If for example, the Tacoma dimming is set to 50%, the effect is 50% of the potential ground. Our unit requires a solid ground for the TSDC circuit to function properly. What we have found is, adjust the Tacoma dimmer up to 100%, adjust the TSDC down a little, then re-adjust the Tacoma dimmer. Repeat as needed. This is absolutely, NOT a perfect system. We know. We are discussing alternate wiring whereby the unit is wired into the lighting circuit - not the dimming circuit. The result would be independent dimming control between the Tacoma illumination and the V2W TSDC intensity. The V2W also uses a capacitor so, charging it may also be required.

ps - 'Wet fingers' will cause instantaneous response on either unit. Wet fingers are not desired.

 

It sounds like my unit is working correctly then. I have a wired system. I was just trying to find a happy medium, I will have to play with it more.

With that said, your little light may be my favorite mod on my truck!!

All, the black cases are in (if you haven't heard) and all back-ordered units have been shipped. Please let us know if you did not receive your order.

Also, we are working with a vendor (from TW) experimenting with some Hydro-Graphing. Once we have a few pictures, we'll post them for you guys.

Also, we are planning another production run reasonably soon for the cases. We will likely mold a small percentage of the order in clear polycarbonate for some really custom / demo units. IF you guys have any ideas, please let us know before we send off the order.

Also, a higher percentage of respondents indicated an interest in color-matched cases (Blue Tacoma - Blue Case, etc.). We are discussing a plan for exactly how to produce these as we expect the actual demand to be less than what might be realistic. We may however, produce a few for a test run.

I'm posting this up to help out Darren. I finished our prototype hydrographic unit yesterday and took some pictures of the case loosely mounted in my truck. It came out great. Hopefully there will be a production run of these soon. There was a black base with true weave carbon fiber used for the pattern. Enjoy!
