Options to Repair Aftermarket Relentless Bumper?

Someone hit my parked car this morning as they came around a turn. They were nice enough to leave a note - I haven't contacted them yet as I'm evaluating the options to talk with them.

The good news is that the Relentless bumper held up nicely and protected the car against any structural damage. The bad news is that the hit removed the powder coat down to bare metal in some areas. I'm mainly concerned about protecting against rust but it would be a plus to look normal again. Let me know if there's a better option but from my research, my options are:

    1) Remove bumper and have a local shop re-powder coat the whole bumper.

    2) Remove bumper and use rattle can to respray - easier to fix for future repairs / touch-ups.

    3) ??

    Let me know your thoughts!

Me too. I'd just paint over it.

However, if the other driver's insurance is paying for it then you could have it stripped and powder coated since it's not on your dime.

Lol this guy over here worried about his OFF ROAD ARMOR. Getting scratched that's like saying your mud truck is to dirty,

Isn't that what your bumper is for? To get hit? Shit only reason I'd get ahold of that person is to see how bad there car is hahaha I mean if you really need to have someone fix this... you should probably shouldent be driving a Tacoma

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Unfortunately this is the down side to powder coat. It is very resilient but once compromised you have to re-powder the whole piece. You can rattle can it, but it will glaringly stand out and not bond to the powder well at all. This is why I don't powder coat any armor, so it can just be touched up to protect from rust as it serves its purpose.

If my OFF ROAD ARMOR where damaged by somebody else, on road, I would absolutely get it fixed on their dime.

It's a bumper. USE IT! :) And especially that bumper, that's exactly what it was designed for.

If they hit your body panels, that's one thing, but I couldn't care less about scratches in my bumpers.

Just make up some fish story about how you were on an off camber hill climb, and expertly positioned the bumper next to a tree to stop you from rolling over.

I almost want to quit my job and start working at an insurance company, just so when someone comes in with an aftermarket off-road bumper complains to me about it getting scratched in the parking lot, I can point at them an laugh. Then refer them to the portion of their policy where it states we only replace with "high quality OEM equivalent parts."

I have no idea what the wording in most policies will or will not cover however despite it being an off-road part, I'd be a bit bummed if someone crashed into my bumper and damaged something that was not of my own doing out on the trail. I do think there is a distinction there.
