OR or SR5 ?

trying to learn all these different models.... saw this in a lot today. Can an SR5 be also an OR?

 

Only if it's a Tundra, that is not a Tundra.

 

Probably an SR5 and someone put bed decals on...or someone got on off-road and put SR5 on it...I dont see that so probably first way.

My 03 TRD DC also had SR5 logos on it so I would think it is possible. The SR5 has painted fender flares and chrome bumpers as does the OR. Biggest difference is shocks and locker.

 

was your 03 preowned whereas someone may have added the decal??? thanx

 

I saw a Tacoma on Sunday with a Sport hood, OR decals, SR5 badges, a Prerunner badge, and 4x4 mud flaps.

 

That's a second gen in pic, don't know about turds but for seconds yeah they are a thing, not OR but ive got a 07 V6 sr5 trd sport, trd can be either sport or OR to my knowledge

 

Sport and OR are packages, so to speak, on top of the SR5 features. They've since stopped doing it, but up until the end of the 08 model year I believe it was, Tacoma's had the SR5 badge, and then if they had an OR or sport package, they had the bed stickers as well.

 

Yes, OP - there is nothing wrong with the truck in that picture. In 2nd gens (up to a certain year I believe), all TRDs would also have the SR5 badge on the tailgate. All TRDs are SR5s, but not all SR5s are TRDs. Again, after a certain year, they removed the SR5 badge, but I don't know what year. My 2009 Sport had both.

So I few things to note on your picture that truck is Speedway Blue which was a TRD exclusive color on certain year models, like my 2008. On First and Second Gen trucks SR5 was on of the grades of Tacoma pickups and TRD Sport or TRD Off-Road were option packages. For Third Gens TRD is now one of the grades of pickup.

 

2nd gens had SR5, TRD Off Road and Sport packages. The Sport and Off Road packages added to the SR5 packages, so they would stack and you would end up with both badges.
3rd gen separated them out into whole separate models not packages.

^ This but I think Toyota stopped doing that (decals and SR5 badge) in 2012 when they refreshed the 2nd gen.

The pic shows a 2009 - 2011 based upon the tailights and the dual SR5 badge and TRD decal.

 

Good call. I wasn't sure, but knew it happened sometime before the end of the second gen run.

Thanks, but I'm not sure I can get one yet as I don't own a 3rd gen.... Not sure if Seatbelt Mike stipulated you needed to own one though when he promised a steak dinner to anyone proving drivelien vibration on the 3rd gen....

 

Just look for the rear diff lock button.
