For those curious - here is a stock pro next to a TRD off-Road with 3rd Gen Bilstein 6112/5160 combo set at 4/5 setting.

I’m well aware of that, they started in Campbell CA before moving down to Watsonville. The outlet in Gilroy and all the apparel you see is 99% the moto company.

I was speaking to the statement it was "not MTB"...maybe that's true in your area, but not mine...most of my kit is Fox

like i said, the only fox stuff you'll see on a mountain biker is a jersey and/or shorts. the crap you see people walking around wearing is just cotton tshirts and geared towards motocross fans.

Exactly, I’ve honestly never seen any Fox mountain bike shirts, hats or anything.

The pro sits one inch higher factory than the OR and has a 1 inch wider stance due to the offset change from +25 on the OR to +10/11 on the pro. Pushing each wheel out a 1/2 inch. Fox is decent, you're more paying for the name. Just hope you never have an issue. They're terrible to deal with, whether auto or mtb. I was gonna get the pro, but would've junked the fox right from the rip.

<-- just this sort of stuff.... that's generally all "tech" fabric for moisture wicking.

The coilovers that come with the Pro are not adjustable like most other performance coilovers. Weren't designed to be.

I have had my MTB shock/fork rebuilt by them & never had a issue. Very reasonable on the cost as well. At 50K I plan on having Fox rebuild on shocks on the Tacoma.

I've had Bilstein 5100's on my last 2 2nd gens (set at stock height) and have them on our '06 4Runner as well. Honestly, I didn't notice a huge difference between them and stock other than it seems that they have a bit firmer damping and seem to give better on-road control. A bit firmer/rougher riding than stock, but less float over rough stuff. I've never run either stock or 5100's long and hard enough off road to comment on fade differences, but I'm sure having the larger 5100 shock bodies helps. I think the stock Bilsteins are probably "just good enough" for most people, but I agree that they should probably provide 5100's on the TRD OR and Sport trims as standard. Heck, most people don't even know when one of their shocks is blown or bad, though.

I never test drove a 3rd gen Off Road, but with basically the same chassis and suspension I assume it doesn't drive/ride much different than the 2nd gen. My impression of the Pro Fox suspension is that it has a slightly better ride on the road, but off road is where it really shows a difference. It eats up rough gravel roads, smooth ride and solid control. Both stock and 5100 Bilsteins seemed to float and wander more. Slower sections over monkey heads seem smoother as well, with less jostling side to side.

While some folks may think the TRD Pro Fox shocks are a gimmick, I think they are engineered pretty well. I was hard-pressed to notice much difference between stock and 5100's, but I definitely notice a difference with the Fox.

That said, I would do 5100's again if I had a Sport or Off Road just because they are a great value when replacing shocks. If I was going to do more, I would probably be looking at other aftermarket OME, Fox and King offerings.

Fox has the T-shirt and douchebag flat-bill hat market for wanna be's in every mall across the country. Motocross, mountain biking, off-roading...

It's just a matter of time before they take over NASCAR, ricering, MLB, and synchronized swimming. Everything will be Fox branded.

I second this experience. Though I can only compare the 2015 Pro with 2017 off road. The OR's suspension is definitely softer. I don't live in a desert and I prefer the OR's softer suspension for the gravel and washboard roads I travel on. The pro would definitely do a better job at soaking up bigger bumps that the OR will likely bottom its suspension out on.

I've had my Fox mtn bike forks and shocks rebuilt as well. They do an excellent job.

Did anyone ever find a part number for the TRD Pro Shocks? I'm trying to get them as they fit exactly what I'm looking for.

I have had the Bilstein Baja suspension on a 2013 Baja Tacoma, and now the TRD Pro suspension on a TRD Pro, the latter I just used on the White Rim Trail in Canyonlands with 500 miles on the odometer. The difference isn't huge between the two, although the Fox's are not quite as plush, but stick the wheels down a bit better and feel better rock crawling. Now, I didn't have both trucks there to go back and forth, but that's my impression. Also the Fox's smooth out the bumps a bit better. My $0.2.

Yep, my Pro is 1" higher at the wheel well and top of cab than my 17 OR.
