Hey everyone, took my Tacoma in for a coolant system flush today and instead of putting the oem recommended pink... they put orange...?

What’d y’all think? Should I go get it redone?

They probably put a coolant that is compatible with Toyota coolant. Hopefully they didn't use Dex-cool.

It's universal, not ideal, and the next shop will try to flush it again.

I'd leave it as you paid for it and they won't refund you.

The color of the coolant, oddly enough, does not signify anything. The question to ask is whether the orange coolant in the radiator is specifically for Asian cars. Toyota uses a coolant based on Phosphated Hybrid Organic Acid Technology (PHOAT). This coolant contains a mixture of organic additives and phosphate and DOES NOT contain any silicates, borates, nitrites and amines. These last things are not compatible with Toyotas. Asian Coolant is designed to be compatible with Toyota's use of metals in the engine and cooling system, and seals.

Need to ask them what brand as many orange types out there from Prestone, Zerex, and Havoline as universals.
The GM Dex-Cool has organics in it and needs to be avoided as air in Dex clogs as GM heater cores have shown.

Common Antifreeze Types by Color but must read the label!
    • Green. If you have a green coolant, you have Inorganic Acid Technology (IAT) coolant.
    • Orange. An orange coolant typically indicates that you are looking at Organic Acid Technology (OAT) coolant.
    • Yellow. A Hybrid OAT (HOAT) coolant is also an option.
    • Red. If you have red coolant in your cooling system, you have Extended Life Coolant.

I saw some orange coolant in a parts store some time ago and it said "compatible with ALL types of coolant".
I don't remember the brand or anything.

I only use Toyota coolant, either the premixed or I buy a full gallon and mix it myself.
