This is what I have been working on, it's a portable battery operated emergency radio setup. It currently does NOT have the battery setup yet. It is approx 85% complete. At least it is finally put together. I had already bought the 4-Band Yaesu FT-8900R 3yrs ago now and the Cobra 18WXSTII was bought about 1.5yrs ago. The radio box is going to be rechargeable, powered by a car lighter type jack, and solar power (i.e. the solar power is for recharging purposes). At least that is the plan. It is only meant for short TX burst emergency purposes when ON battery power only!!! Other than that, it will be continually usable if plugged into a constant powered source (i.e. non-battery internals). The antenna on the left is a 3ft CB magmount and the little antenna on the right is just for show, for now. I would need an actual antenna to match the 4-band Yaesu radio. I can easily get a 2m/70cm magmount antenna, but to get a 6m and 10m as well gets a bit more complicated as an "all-in-one" antenna?! Anyways, it is still in the final stages and will be that way for, I would imagine, the next few weeks, if not months. Running low on cash. At least I put all of what I already had together finally.

Anyways, Denny/Kyle, this is what I was going to be using those internals for (i.e. the car jump/booster packs) as it would be perfect for this setup!!!

It is a: 6m/10m/2m/70cm and 11m radio box setup. Pretty much a 5-band portable emergency radio box setup. Not everyone has a HAM license and not everyone has a CB.

    IMG_9680.jpg IMG_9681.jpg IMG_9682.jpg IMG_9683.jpg IMG_9684.jpg

Anyways, this is what I have been working on ON/OFF when I have the chance. Already had the radios and most of the pieces, but just never put it together up until now, LOL!!! It only took me about 3yrs!!! :tumbleweed::sawzall::welder:

LOL, I had the CB connected to a 9V battery to TEST with!!!:rofl::rofl:

@spacecat LC, I found the pics of my rear brake drum job that I did. They were taken "after-the-fact", but I annotated the pics to hopefully give you some helpful tips/tricks.

Hope it helps out. Your rear drums SHOULD look like mine... of course that's IF you end up doing the rears as well??? One way to check, just pull the drum, BUT you MAY NEED the 8mm bolt to remove the drum itself??? Beating the PI$$ out of mine resulted in just LOUD BANGS, LOL!!!:rofl::rofl:

Again, if you buy new drums, you will need to clean off the cosmoline (i.e. the oily substance) before installing the new drum. DO NOT get any type of "grease/oil" on the new brake shoes!!!

Finally, adjusting the drums can be a hassle and, as far as I know, is by "feel"! You need to spin the drum and try to set it so that it is slightly "scraping". That's how I've always done it and as far as I know, that is how it is done! Anyways, make sure to wear eye protection either way because of the springs!!! THEY ARE UNDER HEAVY TENSION AND ESPECIALLY WHEN RE-INSTALLING!!!

    RearBrakeInternals.jpg

    RearBrakeDrum.jpg

Again, hope this helps and Happy Wheel'n :mudding:
