I just want to end by saying that Denny hit it right on the head, "assumptions"!!! I guess, when it comes down to it, that is what I was trying to convey? Again, my words put down and Denny's are 2x different people's thought processes and Denny happen to say it better, much, MUCH better than I was able to whereas I couldn't say it the same way. Why? Again, Denny thinks like Denny and I think like me! I mean, right? I wasn't trying to say anyone was right or wrong, just that people do and say things differently and convey thoughts/actions differently to the best of their ability. How does that quote go from Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Capt. Kirk asked, "Spock, these cadets of yours, how good are they? How will they respond under real pressure?", and Spock says, "As with all living things, each according to his gifts." This is how I peronally think of people myself when a crisis situation occurs. Again, my whole point, people simply think differently and that you can't fault someone for thinking of what they're doing is "right". Finally, again, I'm using the word fault in as general of a term as possible.

So, very WELL SAID Denny and as for Kyle, I think you said it just about as good as you could as well. The one particular situation for me was that my friend told my other friend and his gf that he told me to, "just stay on the 76... that's all you have to remember..." and he made me feel like a F'N idiot in front of them, but clearly the signs at the fork didn't have "76" on it and if you're not familiar with the area then you wouldn't know otherwise... and here my friend is driving FAST as I'm trying to keep up with him, following him, and constantly reminding him that I have NO CLUE where I am going over the radio???!!! The signs were NOT marked like he said they would be... just in "his mind" because he already knows where he is going. Again, he is making "assumptions" that the signs are marked "76" where as they are actually marked by their street names and you would have to know/be a local to know otherwise that that is part of the 76 route!!! But yet, here he is telling my other friend and his gf otherwise. So, I just dropped it because it was gonna be a F'N pointless arguement and a stupid one at that. I'm NEVER one to "compare sizes" as that in itself, to me, shows immaturity and actually, if you think about it, insecurity issues of ones self!!! So, I just left that argument alone. There was one other time just before we left his house, I told him that the S2 was San Felipe road and he kept arguing, firmly saying that it was S22. I was like...???!!! Again, I just dropped it as I knew better and it was just a pointless arguement that would have gone nowhere, but F'N SOUTH, LMAO!!!

Just my final 2cents and will say nothing more about the situation. All I want is for people to try to remember that people think differently in certain situations and to think and remember the quotes from the movie as I think those lines/scenes are one of the best to point out about people in general.

    Good morning to all!!! :thumbsup::fistbump::drunk:

    Totally valid my man!
If it sounded like I was trying to point fingers or pass the blame, I wasn't, I can be held just as accountable for not asking to call to see if the recovery guys were available or even picking up the phone and doing it myself.

It was a long day in the hot sun and I certainly wasn't thinking crystal clear. Things would have gone a lot differently if everyone were well rested and not sitting and cooking in the sun haha. Looking at it all off the mountain makes it so much easier to make corrections and adjustments to make this type of a thing go smoother next time. I know for Madison and myself this was a huge learning experience, and we're going to be bringing more tools with us in the future.

In the end all that matters is everyone made it home

Gotta hate those moments. The other day I was in a parking lot and on flat ground turned a corner and heard a good pop somewhere on the front end. It seemed fine after and there was no movement in the CVs or tie rods. Later on turning in a parking lot that was quiet I heard this odd almost "rubbing" noise on what sounded like the driver's side tire.

    Today it's gone. :frusty:

If anyone's curious, by the way, a great way to mask any possible drive line vibration is a loud straight through muffler dumped under/behind the cab. Everything vibrates

    I LOVE that sticker!!! LMAO!!!

LOL!!! "Randy's wall", LMAO!!! Yeah, I know Danny and I apologize for my long posts bro!!!

About tools, I've been building-up on my own tools myself when I have money to do so. Not much to speak of as of right now, but it is surely building-up. Didn't think of drills or anything, so thank you for mentioning that. Danny, a die-grinder and/or even an angle grinder might be something to think about as well. In my mind, I think those would be some very helpful cordless tools to have: drill, die-grinder, and angle grinder. As far as hand tools: screw drivers, vise grips, pliers, cresent wrench, open/box wrenches, 1/2in breaker bar with 1/2 to 3/8 adapt, and your basic socket set (i.e. the most common ones for Toyota that I know of are 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19mm sizes and maybe in 1/2 and 3/8 sizes). Finally, a small can of WD-40.

My only problem, I have a reg cab, so tools are a bit hard to "store". That is the only thing I don't like about a reg cab, but other than that, I LOVE my truck alot!!! With that said, I have some ideas on how to get that solved knowing when I am going on trips I can easily put and/or take out the tool box I have in mind. Thinking about custom making a tool box of my own, LOL!!! Another project, LMAO!!!

You're lucky! We have the same year (and color!) and mine died 2yrs to the day... Suddenly... Bad cell and she wouldn't chooch. I'm on a warranty battery right now but it leaks like a mother fucker. Take off the terminals on your new one and smear them and the terminals liberally with dielectric grease then put it all back together. No more corrosion!

I just want to say Mike that I am glad you didn't take the post the wrong way. I know I wasn't there and sortof made that point at the begining of that post. Kinda hard to say certain shi- in writing as it can be taken the complete opposite sometimes when it wasn't meant to be, if you get my meaning. I think this was a learning experience for all in general. Either way, yes, I very much agree that everyone made it home safely is all that really matters in the end!!! Very well put Mike!!! I was just telling Ron and Oscar that I have certain recovery gear that I pack with me and even have traction mats just in case anyone gets stuck and that includes me of course. So yeah, tools have been on my mind for quite some time and I have been building-up my "trail tools" and even have a temp bin for such things. Take care and God bless bro.

I had to split because my girls dad is in the hospital and she had to get back on that part of the trail I was 2 and half hrs out. I offered my tools but didn't have anything needed. Hope no hard feelings as that was my first meet. Felt like the outsider and bummed I couldn't offer more help. :( I just want to be friends lol

Put a little grease on the back of a penny and sit it on your battery (as well as greasing terminals) the corrosion will attack the copper in the penny before going after your lead terminals. Sacrificial metal! That might be a good band name BTW...

Vaseline works very well for this @ODNAREM Ron!!! Believe me Ron, Denny is right on the money for this!!! What I like to do, whether it is a brand new battery or not, is soak the terms with Arm&Hammer w/ very warm water and clean the terms, repeat if necessary, let dry, and then apply the Vaseline. My terms are fricken shiny as hell bro!!! Here is a picture of my batt terms. Ron, this is going on 4yrs now. Notice I don't have those lame a$$ red/green batt term pads. Those things are a waste of money bro!!! I did this to my batt terms and to this day looks fricken pristine!!!:fistbump:

Danny, I think a 1500W and up would be best because of motors being such an inefficient electrical device. The start-up is by far the worst, but even when it is "running" it is still a pretty fairly inefficient electrical device. The bigger the motor and the more current the thing in question draws will definitely dictate on the power inverters ability to handle the device being used! Just my humble opinion/advice for anyone to think about.

I'm a part of it. Personally the main page does have a lot of drama, hence why I turned off notifications for it. But there are guys that live & breathe for the recoveries & do whatever they can to help. I've had to post on the SOS page before for a friend & we had a guy show up within the hour
