There is this coffee shop near my work that roasts their own coffee. They grind it up for me to run in my espresso machine. It's like a dessert. I like a smooth dark roast or medium. Light is not enough taste for me.

I honestly don't really visit any coffee shops. I get beans from a monthly subscription from Modern Times and I have an encore baratza grinder at home with more brewing devices than I can count that I use to brew every morning and then I have a clever dripper pour over at my desk at work.
I have been to one place called Portola Coffee Labs which is in Costa Mesa off the 405. If you're a craft beer fan, they are actually the provider/roastery for Noble Ale Works beer, Naughty Sauce.
If you wanna talk coffee, or beer, I'm always down for that haha

My brother as a gift gave me this one:
    http://www.target.com/p/mr-coffee-s...gclid=CJ2ynKWDzs4CFciGfgodhg4Hgg&gclsrc=aw.ds

I've had if for over a year and works great. Super cheap. No pump motors like the expensive one. Great starter machine. Doesn't affect taste or at least from what I can tell. Also can steam cream. Pretty sure it will last at least 5 years. Easy to clean, but embarrassed to show my friends it. I had to buy another tool to pat down the coffee grounds inside the cup.

We had some crazy automatic $5k machine at work, but that took a shit after 2 years.

At work now we have the older version of this. Works well. Look fancy. Friends and family won't think you are cheap, but the Mr coffee will probably out last it.

The new cool thing kids are into now is french press. I haven't got into that yet. For some reason it got cool again, but now they do a cool brew. Guess it extracts the most caffeine possible.

Sounds like you need to get better beans or change your brew method up. Do you drink your coffee black or add extra shit?

I French press really only when I want to make more than 1 cup at a time. I usually use it to make my cold brew mostly though. Aeropress is my daily go to. Never let's me down. Chemex might be my favorite brew method though.
