I'm not. Its not common to get rolled on by rangers in places like dv or in the mojave. They'll most often take a dirt bike out to high peaks and observe large areas of land that way. For the more popular monuments they have hidden cameras mounted. Next time I do Mojave I'm gonna try to camp at one of the cabins near the lava tubes or possibly at the school bus which has a fairly large, flat area with fire ring in the middle. Possibly do it again in February.

Finally got my camper shell LED wired up. Only problem is there isn't anywhere inside the light housing to ground it. I'll probably get a nut that goes on the bolt for the tailgate and screw the wire invetween the nut and bolt in the housing.

Only bummer is I lost that little foam gasket in my tail light. Came right off and wouldn't go back on. I don't see it being too much of a problem.

All in all I can't wait to get my rear stuff after the holidays! It can't come faster! Too bad I'm buying everything for other people right now instead of being selfish. Lol

Made a bracket/mount and installed my CB antenna today. Originally it was located close to my cab and was onward facing, with my soft top I had to move it. After some sawing, drilling and filing I was able to make a sturdy new home for my CB antenna. :D glad to have it back & glad to have made my own instead of spending $50... Cost me Free.99 :bananadance:

I'm always hanging on to dumb brackets and metal scraps thinking I'll get around to repurposing them at some point. most things just get thrown away after a few years but sometimes.. :sawzall:

When you start fabricating, you will learn that there is no such thing as "trash" when it comes to scrap metal.

I have a nice pile of future use scrap metal.

If I ever own land it'll just slowly turn into a massive scrapyard of all the parts I'll need for "future projects"

Haha. That's exactly how it is between me, my brother, and a friend of ours.

We commandeered part of my dad's truck yard.

Scrap metal and fire wood is always welcomed to be dumped off there.

A friend just replenished my wood pile, but it's not what I was hoping. It's a bunch of scrap 2"x4"s and 4"x4"s and whatever else leftover building wood.

I told him he can only leave whatever doesn't have nails in it. I'm not a big fan of how that wood burns, but I was running really low and need something for the Hammers.

All the really shitty, unusable metal goes to the recycler when the pile is big enough.

Welding is fun. I'm still constantly learning. It's one of those skills that requires as much hands on practice as you can get. But it pays off big when you realize how much you can do yourself instead of paying somebody, or buying shitty products.

And the plasma cutter was a whole other level of awesomeness.

I thought about doing that, but I don't have the patience to be taught.

I just sold my most expensive rifle that I never used anymore and bought the best welding setup I can find on craigslist, then started doing hands on.

I don't mind green wood. I let it sit there for at least a year.
