If they haven't provided you supporting documentation showing why you owe them something, I would definitely request that. If you missed something and it turns out you do indeed owe, maybe you can negotiate a settlement. If not, it is doubtful you would be required to pay anything without a signed agreement. (I'm not a lawyer so you probably shouldn't do anything just I mentioned)

Camper shell + locking tail gate is definitely far more secure than a soft topper or bestop. Also you can find used hard shells quite often on Craigslist

With a camper shell im worried it will fly off on a trail somewhere ... i dont drive carefully at all ... i mean i dont drive up on boulders and get stuck but you never know

 

If you don't mind a few holes in your bed you could just bolt that sucker down instead of whatever clamps most people use. I bolted the rails of my bestop down and the rails haven't budged... And you've seen how I bounce and plow through trails

I dont mind drilling my bed if that means its better secured

 

Heck if he is going to drill holes he might as well drill holes and mount and lock his tools down to the bed and side walls

 

It's definately more secure than having it clamped down. Look at myself and Bryan, we both had our soft toppers blown off on the highway and they were both clamped on. Mine's been bolted down for months now and I've had zero issues. Hey @MotoEd isn't your top bolted down?

That's be cool too to keep important tools from bouncing around when off roading

 

But to unload at jobs id have to get up there ... with my cover right now i just use tie downs to hold my boxes in place

 

Yeah mine is bolted down to the bed rails. Only on all four corners. Never had it blow off or fall off while off-roading. Even when getting stuck on the only boulder on the entire road.

 

True that is more convenient but do you prefer convenience or security?
