My parents had one on their ranger. It was nice, but a tad odd looking and bulky.

Yeah they are odd looking. I don't care about looks that much. Having the extra headroom is key especially if you do storage drawers. I probably cant do the rear door because I haul long stuff (ladders). I do like the front skylight on the MX though.

With that rear door on that you can't do the drawer system. Need to have tailgate to gain access to drawers. That door is like a motor home door. Narrow and tall. Sorry I was wrong, the back does lift up to gain access.

Question, so in general are most of hard tops fiberglass? I've started kicking around the idea of picking one up, I want to be able to sleep in the back of the bed again when camping and my bestop has broken seals so sleeping with that kinda blows

Yes they are nick, you may be able to find a sheet metal one, but those are old school kind of look like trailer siding from a mobile home

Yeah they are fiberglass and take at least 2-3-4 people to install and remove. Kinda like semi-permanent.

    Good to know thanks
Yeahhh that's the one thing drawing me back from having it, I do enjoy having the open bed. But on the flip side it'd be nice to have somewhere setup to sleep whenever, especially on some of those late night runs. Plus I could have some fun building some form of drawer and storage system with couple other gadgets over time inside a hard top.... not like I'm going to go long travel soon anyways haha

Yes, I am bored and land locked up here in LA. I have nothing but time on my hands watching pools fill with water during the day and TV at night. So this is my entertainment.

Would be at least 2 hours to get there and back plus the wheeling so like 6 hours for a small trip on stock suspension sr5, 2wd, no locker, no extra lights. Hmmmmmm, let me think bout that ... nope sorry Its my daily and my business so best option don't break it. Ooh yeah I am also as new to this as a fish to land

No don't do what he does. Take it easy on your truck. There are plenty of places to take a stock 2WD truck off-roading and not break it.

A lot of the roads through the local mountains are called fire roads. They area pretty much graded dirt roads. They are generally easy. They are called fire roads because those are the roads the firetrucks use when there's a forest fire. Soo if a fire truck can make it down the road, you should be able to also. Just know when to call it quits if it gets too crazy or rough or steep.
