people are starting to do that alot around my area in Sky Valley. Land is really cheap, might also want to look at Indio Hills if you ever get back to that!

This was a long time ago, but I went on a solo trip, not too long after I received my license, going to Vegas because 1) I've never been 2) wanted to know what all the hype was about 3) took my telescope since I'm heading out towards the desert and 4) just wanted to take a trip. I ended up not caring too much for Vegas as it wasn't my kinda scene. I went to the library, yes, they have a library, and headed towards meteor crater.

Anyways, I'm on my way home and get pulled over by a trooper @uhplifted Brian going over the speed limit? He pulls me over and says I was doing 10mi over the speed limit and I said, "no sir, I was doing what the sign posted..." and he looked at me and said that that was a few miles back!!! LOL!!! He goes, "through town, it is 55" or 65 (I can't remember what he actually said...). I'm looking around and I see like 2x trailers, LMAO!!! I'm thinking to myself, "WHAT TOWN is he referring to", LMAO!!! Anyways, he let's me go with just a warning because I was honest with my answers to him and what not. So, on my way home it just gets F'N HOTTER AND HOTTER and I pull into those rest stops (NOTE: a pretty BIG rest stop that had lots of cars and families taking trip breaks) and the night heat was just F'N MISERABLE!!! (NOTE: it was about the middle of July). I go to the back seat, cover the windows and break down to my underwear and no shirt, LMFAO!!! I poured COLD water on a bath towel I just happen to have and put it on my back!!! Again, the heat bothers me quite a bit!!! I'm the type, I'm guessing, that would get "heat stroke" fairly easily if it ever came down to that. My body just doesn't regulate heat very well???!!! :annoyed:

Moronga is a good spot if you find something again! there's some nice trails around there and a little cooler!!
We almost moved out there when we were looking to buy, probably would have if their realtor wouldn't have played us.

Sounds like one of those horror flicks... And just when you started to fall asleep the crazy truck driver shows up knocking on your window.

and honestly you'd get more money from renting a cabin in the mountains than renting a house down here!! Unless you rent just for Coachella Fest!

About a 2yrs ago now, my dumba$$ brother wanted to go shooting out in the desert and my friend and I was telling him that it's going to be HOT. It was my brother's first time out there and he just wanted to do "open range" instead of a gun range, whether indoor or outdoor. I understood and everything, but he just didn't want to listen. So, anyways, we're out in AB/Ocotillo area and it was about 103* and we decide to pack up and I'm starting to have fast breathing attacks, headaches coming on, dizziness, tunnel vision affects were starting to take place, etc and I just said to my friend, "dude, I gotta just sit here for a little bit..." under a tarp that was setup. No amount of water or Gatorade was helping and it made me feel even more sick and wanted to throw up!!! I don't KNOW if that was an onset of heat stroke, but most definitely I felt like passing out as I could barely even keep my head up at that point?! I had shorts on, not shirt, and, if I remember right, I even took off my shoes and still felt like passing out for sure.

Anyways, that was my worst experience, but I've had same/similar experiences, just not as bad as that one. So yeah, my body SUCKS at regulating heat either way. Btw, I drank quite a bit of water even before that shi* even happened, which is why I said earlier that "I'm guessing I'm the type that would get heat stroke pretty easy...".

Not sure which toll road you are referring to but many of them in OC are privately owned. Therefore, they can keep charging tolls for as long as they own the toll road privately to cover maintenance costs and profit.

Easy identifying factor is when you stop sweating, that's a huge warning sign of heat stroke

SR241 was the road. I was just simply following like everyone else was and all of a sudden a BRIGHT FLASH???!!! If "I" knew where I was going I would have avoided it because I saw it on Google maps, but still didn't know where the hell to go? Now I know how to get to the entrance since I went by myself about 2wks ago. I just needed an address to help me out a little bit. Even then, as I was driving, nothing really looked all that familiar because every time I went with a group, it was at night. When I went during the day, early evening, shi* looked different except for some of the houses that I recognized.

I did not know that? Thank you for that info.

I CAN tell you that I had shorts on and my shirt off and, NO, I was NOT sweating!!! I was drinking cold water and cold Gatorade and nothing was helping in calming down what I was feeling?! So, I just finally sat down under the tarp shade. It sucked, but it was better than directly under the sun light. I must have sat there for over an hour before I even was able to finally get up and about... and even then... I felt pretty "sick" and/or not normal. It wasn't until the sun finally went down that I was starting to get my energy back. This all started at about 1pm and we finally left at around 7:30ish in the evening.
