    Sorry, maybe that was confusing, there are no closed gates at the Ortega entrance, the road goes from Ortega to santiago peak, then forks to maple springs(which is closed) or continues &passes Bedford rd (closed) then eventually Indian truck trail, I dont know the status of the gates on main divide past the peak, so i just planned on just turning around at some point. If they're open, then the more the merrier:D I'm bringing a friend with me, plan on being there about 10am.

    Well, I usually spend around 3-4 hours out there (hiking around & photo-taking too). It really depends on when you have to leave though, there are plenty of turnouts & openings so you could head back whenever you want
