Should be interesting since shops are only getting temporary permits to begin with and the application process doesn't start until the 2nd of January. It is going to take a week or more to process those.

Yeah, it sounds like they mis-diagnosed or completely fucked up the first time he went to the dealership and are trying to cover their asses now.

The Jeep enthusiast communinity has white lists and black lists for dealerships who fuck around with stuff like this, with a little bit of research one can find who the asshole dealerships are and to avoid them. Unfortunately toyotas are too dependable and too few people are hard on their trucks to be able to make a community sourced list like that for us.

I agree with you. If he had gone in for warranty work, and then hit the dirt hard for months and this happens I'd be less suspicious and say it's a part of the risk we take going offroad. The fact that he didn't go offroad or in a dusty environment for the length of time between dealer visits makes me think it actually is a dealer mistake. BUT maybe he already had let dust through, and it took this long for the problem to become a failure. It's more or less impossible for any of us on a forum to legitimately identify the real culprit and whose to blame.

Pretty interesting about that Jeep list. Would be nice to have on our forum, but I agree, would take an eternity to grow it.
