It would be obvious right away. As long as it is holding air and not leaking oil. I think I used the red high temp transmission RTV.

Completely agree, once you see ATRAC struggle time after time obstacle after obstacle on a hard trail it loses it's luster real quick.

I was trying not to be that blunt about it, but I am going with this.

You will find yourself in a really bad or dangerous situation by relying on the off-road capabilities of your rig if you depend on any of the newer traction gizmos.

Mine sits at cab height, a few inches over. But I'm also a trail limo. I'm not looking to crawl up and over everything in my way. I'm not looking to run anything with giant ass boulders in my current truck. Call me a pussy or whatever insult @dtaco06 wants to throw out there at me on any given day, but that's not the build I'm going for with this truck, that's also currently my only vehicle. One day (hopefully) I'll be able to have a dedicated trail rig that's meant for that type of shit and it most definitely will not have an RTT on it.

...or after having to assist and bust out a strap and/or winch time and again. I have even witnessed 3 rear diff failures as a direct result of ATRAC

I wish I had that kind of restraint to do such a build. But I learned my lesson many times over that I can't have nice things.

I see. Same here with rebuilding my whole front end only to have the damn motor go out.

And that's what I'm talking about, from your own experience you know it sucks. Admit it. Put some duct tape over the ATRAC button and say it's now retired.

Haha ya I fee ya. I didn't know anything about the off roading world when I got my truck. I would have done a lot of things differently had I known what I know now. But I love my truck and it does what I want it to do and haven't had a single issue with it yet.

Damn, you seem to have an almost irrational hate for ATRAC. It's like it punched your mom in the face or something. :smack::D

Took me and my group 4+ hours of work to run Odessa with just a rear locker on 33's back in the day. Took barely 45 minutes of no sweat drinking my extra soy foam non fat latte with out spilling any locked front/rear on 35's.

Haha. Nothing irrational. Only speaking for myself, but having seen and experienced failures off-road, I prefer manual/mechanical > auto/electronic everytime.

And before anybody brings up that ARB depends on eletrical for air supply, it is powered by a direct power source and not a sensor that will fail.

I only carry spare line. ARB compressors are dependable and durable enough.

That was directed at monkeyproof. Whenever someone advocates for ATRAC his feathers always get ruffled and he goes into pounce mode. :p I've seen it happen several times now. :)

Years ago I did Calico with the SoCal TTORA dudes and had a blast until it was time to do the Doran Loop. I was stuck here being a total noob holding up the SoCal TTORA group forever not making any friends before getting unstuck..

How things progressed over time. A few years later I conquered The Gate Keeper in The MonkeyCrawler at first try.. Don't mind the gay music, Tron had just come out and everyone was excited.
