I usually go for Sat or Sunday brunch. I don't know if my wife makes reservations.

We try to sit by a window and watch the boats go by.

I need opinions on this exhaust reroute idea.

I went to a shop to see if they could do it today to prep for San G but they’re booked so I have a few days to think this option over.

Anyways, I showed the guy this picture -



Told him this is what I need done, explained why, and even brought in the skid so he could see what’s up.

He’d need to relocate the Y about 6” or more behind where it’s currently located. I don’t know why, but the Y junction on my truck appears to be closer to the transfer case than the above pictures.

He thinks this is way too much work and instead can tuck the exhaust higher along the same route and still clear the skid. Bringing it closer to the heat shield.

Bend a new pipe and bring it up closer to this heat shield -





My thoughts are it’ll be less expensive, will have this section of exhaust protected by the skid, and keeps the exhaust sways from electronics.
He believes with that heat shield there it won’t be any hotter to the transfer case than it already is, said I wouldn’t need a heat wrap either (but could still do that).

Concerns are I’ve never seen anyone go about it this way.

Whatcha all think? Opt for a different shop who’ll route it around, or give this a shot?

 

You don't want to tuck it closer to the trans/transfer. The motor and trans move a good 1/2".

Go on summit and buy 2 mandrel elbows. Exhaust dude is blind af.
