Nice. I've got a 6 year old mutt I got when I lived in Hawaii and have a 7 month old Australian Cattle Dog. The 6 yo likes the water as long as his feet touch, the pup is quite hesitant. We took him to the brookhurst/newport dog beach and he jumped right in the first time, swam, came right back in and started crying haha. It was probably a bad first experience with it being so cold haha. I'll keep trying though, I'm determined to make him love the water

As much as I hate the cold, it keeps everyone away which makes living down here so much nicer. Especially surfing. As soon as it warms up the lineup is always doubled. I refuse to surf weekends in the summer. Did it once last year, caught one wave said fuck it and went in.

The pup will get into it with time!
    also, The jetty?
I always took my pup there when I first got him too just because the waters a little calmer. Scares me though for him to swim it strictly because of what happened ago a few years ago (article: https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Rupert-Dog-Storm-Drain-Death-Newport-Beach-395757811.html). This stuff ruined / scared the shit outta me for a while.

Early morning weekdays are where its at. If you're at the pier it's a little territorial but the cliffs are always fun

It would be a little more bearable if parking didn't turn into such a shit show... I'm .8 miles from downtown/main so my neighborhood is always fucked

Ya the jetties. I don't normally go there though, usually go to Goldenwest dog beach, a lot more room to run around.
Ya I usually only surf mornings before work anyways. Went out this morning at Goldenwest. I work from home so it's a fast and easy spot. I never go to the pier, it's the same shitty wave you can get from the pier all the way to Cliffs, and the further north you go, the more relaxed it is. I drove past the pier this morning and I counted easily 30 people out there. GW had I dunno, 10 people? And I had a peak to myself.

I'll go there if I'm feeling up for the drive. Dog beach is where I go mainly if I'm taking him out

That's a bummer, feels like everywhere from seapoint to brookhurst gets boned on parking during the summer

The jetties are only 2 mins from my house. If I take the dogs to the beach it’ll be goldenwest though. The older ones kind of a dick though so he doesn’t get to come as often

Unless you’re there before 8am, it’s a nightmare. I wish they’d stop holding the US open. That week is the absolute worst as I’m sure you know.

Isn't your dad worried that the dogs will scratch up the wood floors in his house?
