Have you inspected them to see if you need new ones?

 

I've got 170k on my truck and my shoes are just now starting to wear down to replacement level. What he said \/\/\/

Not yet. I need some confidence in the wrenching department. I was able to install my suspension but other work I'm not as confident at.

 

Remove your wheels & pull off the drum. It may take a few taps on the inner lip, alternate sides so the drum doesn't go at an angle. Be sure your parking brake is NOT ON. Worst case scenario if the drums won't come off by hand then use the 2 threaded holes next to the lug nuts to thread in a couple of bolts. Alternate them so the go fairly evenly, maybe 1 or 2 rotations per bolt at a time. They will drive the drum off the hub easily. Once removed the brake shoes will be right there to inspect.

 

Toyota made it very easy for us, no drum puller needed!!

IIRC, they are m8x1.25 bolts that are needed.

Once it’s off use some brake cleaner and a wire brush to clean it up if the shoes are completely worn down you can decide to replace them but no point in replacing parts that don’t need them

I got 75k out of my factory

I got 25k before the P.S warped
But they did brake nice
Its a performance disc but need maintenance

Idk if having 4x4 makes a difference

 

The shoes look good. Probably need an adjustment. The fronts are done for. I most likely am just going to go with some Duralast ceramic pads and the nicer rotors.

Also my OME front struts that I got from a member on here probably have 100k on them by now. The front end is starting to feel a little loose around turns. Ex. Turning hard left or right the truck feels like its dipping a bit. I found another member on here who has some Fox Fabtech FTS2100 2.0 Coilovers for sale that need a rebuild. I'm thinking of going that route then just replacing the upper ball joints in my stock arms.

My rear is around 2-2.5" due to the shell. But my front is like 2.5" almost 3" with the Nitros and 881's. I want to lower the front some. I'm trying to avoid buying aftermarket uppers if I don't really need them.

 

Make sure you can actually get parts for those before you buy, I’ve seen a thread about the difficulty getting the stuff you need to rebuild a set of those shocks

 

I think I found the rebuild kit already. The dude selling them said he used this kit last time. I just have to find someone who knows how to rebuild shocks or learn how to do it myself.
