Dumont Sand Dunes are located approximately 30 miles north of Baker, CA. The elevation at Dumont ranges from about 700 feet at the river crossing to 1200 feet on the top of Comp Hill. There is approx 8,150 acres of open area. From one end to the other Dumont is about 3-4 miles long and about 1.3 miles wide. The types of dunes range from small rollers to large razorbacks and bowls. Many of the hills are very large and steep. There are two areas of dunes at Dumont, "Little Dumont" (located along HWY127) and then the main area of dunes where most of the duners often go. Approximately a mile north of "Little Dumont" on HWY127 there is a gravel road (Dumont Dunes Road) which brings you to the main area of Dumont Dunes.

Holy Jim's at night gives me the creeps. Seen way too many rapists and crackheads out there, even during the day. I only go back these to fish or if it's been raining.

    Down for Silverado!

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
Any thoughts on Anza-Borrego anytime soon? Was just down there this weekend, and the flash floods have made a damn mess of the place. Anything that was 2wd-able is now fully 4wd, and anything that was 4wd is slow and careful now. Hell, the end of Sandstone Canyon has a slab of rock that fell just right to make a serious mirrors-folded barely-make-it Tundras-need-not-apply squeeze (made it in my DCLB, but not without climbing the wall and still scratching the other side).

Shane, you passed that in the Taco

I wouldn't dare...that earthquake in 2010 knocked it down. The Jeep guys may have moved it a bit since I was last there.

Who still runs holy jims at night? Last couple times I've driven by or try to go through there at night the sheriff has been sitting at the entrance ticketing those leaving and.telling those trying to get in to turn around and leave.
Plus they have graded the shit out of the road and its as smooth as driving on the street

Yeah, they are tired of all the stupid kids and desrespectful offroaders driving through there like Robby Gordon. I actually go there to hike which is who they are trying to protect as well as the residents but it was always an extra treat to do some wheeling to get to a hiking trail right in my back yard.
