Orange County CAF's: up to no good

They suck it was only a recording the business hours are not open today rejected yes you have to take the chance to go why wouldn't they be open today?

 

Well yeah, their offices are closed on saturdays

It says Maple Springs is closed due to Santa Ana wind event, Indian Truck Trail is closed due to wet weather, and Skyline just needs a key. So you technically could get up to Main Divide (which is open) through Skyline if the gate is unlocked (still may be closed, but unlocked), or get that key from Spagget if it is locked.

 

My friend has done that in his rock crawler jeep on 37's...I would never attempt that in the Taco. There's fences everywhere now too.

hey guys. i'm new to TW. just got my tacoma and was wondering where i can test the 4x4 locally. I live here in garden grove. in this thread you all mention about holy jim. I usually mountain bike there. i did not know we can offroad out there.

 

It's not real offroading. More of a place for the occasional mall crawler to get some mud on it's paint. Pretty much all the trails to the sides of the fire road are illegal, but that doesn't mean other like minded dumbasses like myself don't drive onto them. If you're looking for a great beginner trail try Cleghorn and if you want a mellow scenic drive try hitting up Santiago Peak.

 

My brother is part of OCFA so we never get harassed. It's a decent place for beginners though. That's where I first took my Tacoma.

Apparently the route to the top of Santiago Peak was closed.

Website still shows Maple Springs Rd as closed due to a Santa Ana wind event I was up at the gate on Friday last weekend, still closed.

 

Don't know if you guys know this or not but as of january 1st, skyline drive will be closed.

 

Why dont you guys just run Cleghorn or go up to Big Bear? It's not that far and a ton better than anything around here. Some of those trails can even be done with a prerunner.

 

Cleghorn, hmmm been therr on my bike. Maybe ill go check it out today.

 

Think I'll do Big Bear after Thanksgiving...gas is gonna quite a bit, but that's the price we pay for wheelin' in SoCal.

 

I went. Was more for the quad we took. I had a better time on my two wheeler than in the truck was low clouds to had to stay cautious. Still we had fun. Good for a taco meet. No hikers. Feel bad for them when we dust em out.

 

I don't feel bad...there are plenty more hiking trails than there are roads...they're fault.

 

how did the install go??

 

Long and tiring...we installed the coilovers, rear resis, and UCA's. Only thing we couldn't do was mount the resi brackets, due to a lack of hardware. Took us 6 hours to finish out in the cold lol

I feel like I got hit by a truck today though. Sore all over.

LOL good news was that truck hasn't ever seen dirt...so everything was very easy to remove and take off the truck.
