Orange County CCW wait time

Just wondering if anyone here has requested an appointment with the OC sheriff's for a CCW permit recently. I just sent my request in today and will detail my experience here, but if someone can give me an idea of what I can expect that would be great.

Can't wait for it to cool down so I can go out to the desert again, and Big Bear will open back up. And so I won't wake up sweating every 45 minutes.

 

Are you in Orange County, NC? I just applied for my permit in Mecklenburg County, NC today. The gun shop said my county usually takes up to four months to get the permit.

 

Orange County, CA. Unfortunately I think I'm looking at about the same or worse processing time.

 

Just got my date..... November 21st is my first appointment.

 

My appointment was this morning. I had to sign hospital information release forms and get finger printed.

 

Hope you have a good cause. a Very good cause. They're unfortunately not giving CCW out as easily as they used to.

I've got 2 pieces of good cause I'm going to try to use. The first is that I'm a charge nurse at a psychiatric facility and I get death threats from patients occasionally, where the say something like "If I see you on the street I'm going to kill you." I'm not sure how much documentation I'm going to be able to provide due to HIPPA, but I can at least give a copy of my badge and some recent pay stubs. The second, and lesser piece of good cause is that I go off roading where there is no cell service and LE response times are extremely long. I have ample proof of this in the form of pics/video of me off roading. I'm seeking help from members of calguns to write my statement correctly, I'll update how the process goes for me here.

Heard back from someone on calguns who stated that Orange County is actually fairly lenient in issuing CCW's, and that I should have more than enough good cause to satisfy OCSD.

 

Nc passed a law in 2015 where the sheriff office has to check if applicants have mental problems.

 

Just move to AZ. No CCW permit required.

 

Got it. I work with the people with mental problems, which sometimes makes me feel like I have them too, but I've never been diagnosed. In in CA too, fyi.

 

If you are confident with your good cause statement, I recommend you getting your Livescan done and your training certificate completed a month before your interview appointment. That will speed up the process. Assuming they accept your good cause statement.

I didn't know you could complete those prior to the appointment.... I figured they would give you the paperwork at the appointment. Good to know, I'll look into it.

 

I've been going to Arrastre Site 2...... Also been to the one in Holcomb Valley. Not sure when they open it back up, I know the fire hazard is high this year so maybe a longer than normal closed season.

 

Hodge Road is open, tons of trash but open.

 

I live in Orange as well, do you think I would be eligible to get a CCW for hiking? I do backpacking trips to various mountains in CA each year and I have ran into a few situations where I would have felt better with my gun.
