Orange County CAF's: up to no good

You'd think common sense would kick in and the guy driving might say to himself "maybe I shouldn't head towards the jetty and all those jagged rocks where 20 ft waves are breaking?"

I got my ass handed to me by a 3 ft wave in the 4th grade and I've respected the ocean ever since.

I used to hit that spot up back in the days when i would body surf or surf some local spots in Newport Beach!Would watch people left and right get abused!Still the norm to this day!

 

I know my place as a spectator.

It's almost like chilling at the boat launch ramp on holiday weekends!

 

Jet ski and the surf is nuts. I used to ride Pendleton. That was just 3ft surf. I couldn't image the wedge. Sorry for the lack of head protection. I wear a full face helmet if I ride the surf.

 

There is an article in the OC register where I first saw the article and youtube upload. The sea doo was rented....they were warned to stay away from the wedge, ended up on the news.....

I wonder if they got lost and overshot the jetty. Those people out renting a ski are not bright

 

It's a really nice wave at Pendleton.

 

Dunno, but even with my lack of experience in watercraft lessons, common sense would tell me to stay away from 20 ft breakers along a rocky jetty.

You'd also have to drive right into the wedge, so I think it was mainly stupidity, and a lack of knowledge on how powerful the ocean is.

If you watch the vid, you can see the direction they come in from, hard to miss the jetty and waves.

 

So, whens the next OC bbq meet up so I can troll and smoke some herb with all you guys in person?
