I have never seen a dealer flash an ECU without customer consent. You cant beg them enough to do the TSB's! You would not pay full price. If i am your tuner i would simply re flash your tune as long as we have the update information. As of now 2021 do not have any updates. I am sure most tuners wouldn't charge or just a small fee.

That’s good to know about dealers not flashing ECUs without consent and that you’d take care of it and reflash if needed. Something I just wondered about. Thanks!

@brian2sun, If you are concerned about a dealer flashing your ECU out of the goodness of their heart, get one of these OBD2 port lockers (BEM Auto) It’s designed to keep unauthorized flashing to a minimum. Just attach it before your service and if they have to flash they will definitely need you permission.

We always update to the most up to date version (free with the tune). So if a dealer hooks up to your truck, it will already be up to date and will not need to be updated.

Now if and when there is a new update from the dealer, we will cross that bridge when it gets here.

The KDMax Tune has given me a whole new truck !!!
After a short relearning / muscle memory process I can finally say:

Gone are the days of searching for gears.
No more do I have to use 60% throttle to gain and maintain 3-4mph on an uphill grade.
The Throttle Control box I had is now obsolete. The KDMax Tune does WAY more than it ever could.

After the second tank of 91 my avg. MPG is 18.4. Prior to the KDMax Tune it was a constant 17.1mpg no matter how I drove. Calm or otherwise.

A fraction of an inch, or basically just add a little weight to the foot and my truck immediately responds and gains, without the old and predictable increases or inconvenient decreases in RPM's. For the 1st couple hundred miles, I found my self having to lift because my speed was increasing so easily. That's the muscle memory process I mentioned.

The overall feel and ride is noticeably much smoother. I hadn't told my wife about the tune yet, and on our 1st trip to San Diego I could tell she was less tense as my truck no longer needed heavy inputs for small gains. The intake and exhaust blasts always caused her to unknowingly grip the door. Silly I know, but true.

I now have more control of what my truck is doing and how it's performing, and am getting the true performance I know a Tacoma is capable of.

Thanks Dave for the Awesome Upgrade !!!

I wonder how much this would come into play in an off road situation where you only wanted "just a little bit more" to get you over/through something? I'd hate to inadvertently launch my truck!

Now this truck is fun to drive! Drove up to Dave's @TWTaco place from San Diego, super easy process! Dave was super helpful and explained everything he was doing and also explained what to expect after the tune. The KDMax tune is worth every penny, no need to turn on ECT so far (I used to drive with it on all the time). Gas pedal took a couple stop and gos to get used to it, but no big deal. Interested to see how things are after the 3rd tank of gas.

Thanks again Dave, super happy customer here!

@TWTaco Thanks so much for gettin my 2020 Sport tuned on such short notice Dave! It was nice meeting you and Radji aka @bulalo

Thanks for explaining everything to me because I'm new to all this tuning stuff...I haven't had a chance to open it up on the freeway yet, but even on the short test drive around the block I was impressed! The new feel to the gas pedal is sweet. So responsive! Thanks once again for everything bro! Can't wait to drive my truck on the freeway tomorrow...

Just had Dave install the 6.0 tune in my truck 45 minutes ago. It made my truck a whole new animal. This is the best mod you can do for $300..... thanks Dave.
