Order a 2021?

Soo, A friend of mine bought a Highlander today so I decided to meet her there and see what they had.
Dealer tried to talk me into a 2020 with more options than I'm interested in paying for, he says I'm going to have to special order mine and wait six months for them to build.

I'm still holding out for my 2021 SR5 V6 access 6' bed in Red... which by the way, the color sure has changes – the Barcelona red is closer to a fire engine red now. anyone else notice that?

 

Don't settle for what they have in stock. Order what you WANT.

I agree with Tullie D - order what you want and BE PATIENT.
I put down $500 on June 11. Dealer said we can't configure it that way. Went over their heads to corporate for an explanation.
Seems Toyota only likes to ship Double Cabs to the Northeast.
It got made (in Mexico). 2021 Tacoma TRD OffRoad Access cab.
Arrived in CT this week (last week of October 2020)
Checked it out this morning. Looking good! MGM
Will drive it home next week assuming the finances get squared away.
Now I gotta find a new home for my '06 TRD OR AC (126K miles, new frame 2015).
And then the mods start to finish this build ........ (the things Toyota can't add)
The key (for me) - be persistent and be patient.

 

I’m willing to order and be patient, they said it would be a 6-8 month wait? I’m in no hurry...good thing, lol

I realize they want to sell what they have, but they don’t have anything available, not even close to what I want. The one they wanted to sell me wasn’t even on the lot.

 

We had that when buying our 4Runner. They told us that it was at another dealership "on the east side of the state" and wouldn't tell us which one. I double checked the last of the VIN (he wouldn't let us take the paperwork either) and confirmed it was the same one we had been looking at. So we drove over and bought it from the dealership that had it, and for much less.

SoCal is a big area with more than one Toyota dealer.

 

You got er half right and half wrong. You can order 2021’s. The dealerships can’t order PRO models, they are allocated. As it was said to me by one General Manager “allocated trucks are “gifts” from Toyota, we can’t order them.”
However, a customer can order anything Toyota makes if it isn’t readily available and if the dealership’s loooong tenticles can’t snag it and haul it over. 99.9999% chance if some other dealership had one, they wouldn’t give it up and you’d have to order it or go locate it and deal there.
