    Hey All,

I ordered the 6112/5160 combo from Rogue Offroad with AAL. I see quite of bit of people mention the ECGS bushing, as well as spacers to account for the "lean". I'm just wondering if there are other parts I need to get on order so I have everything needed to get this done all at once.

I work for a place the employs very good mechanics and there is a guy here who is going to do the install over the weekend (might not be this weekend) and I am going to help/learn a little bit along the way. He's not necessarily a "Tacoma guy" so I am trying to make sure I have everything he may need in regards to the parts. I know the spacers and bushing are a bit of a specialized deal so any other specific information of what I should look for and purchase would be very helpful.

    Thanks

If this is the kit you got then it looks like it has everything you really need. A lot of people have skipped ECGS bushing so that's more hit or miss than absolutely necessary. With the 3rd gen specific 6112s you can also stagger the spring perch settings so you don't need the lean spacer, assuming you're not maxing out the settings on both shocks.

    That's the one!

Thanks for the info! I just got a call from Rogue and they explained that the 3rd gen specific setup is on national back-order but they did have the 2nd gen. version, which is commonly used on 3rd gen Tacoma's. The main reason I ordered from them was due to them not being shown as "out of stock" so I assumed that they had the right product. I'm just curious what others think and what they are doing. Part of me wants to move forward with the order and the other part is frustrated that it wasn't made clear on the website.

    Thanks!

Bilstein is back-ordered until May now. Which means August if were lucky. It was supposed to be March 1, now May, etc. I am waiting myself.

I kind of felt like they were pushing the 2nd gens on me because they were out of the 3rd gens. I'm not so sure how I feel about it and am leaning towards just cancelling altogether, as I'm not really wanting to wait until halfway through the summer to get my suspension on.

Anyone have thoughts about using the 2nd gen 6112/5160 on a 3rd gen (2019)? My gut tells me to look for something else, but wondering if anyone else has conventional wisdom to share on this.

    Thanks,

    Nic

If your worried about warranty on the bilsteins you won’t get it using the set you bought. However plenty of people are running 2nd gen 6112s on 3rd gens. I believe it’s specific due to preload. Highest notch on the 2nd gen 6112 you can get close to 3” plus whereas the 3rd gen 6112 will only give you 2” max.

That all makes sense. I have no intentions of maxing it out, as the whole point was to get about 2”. I was going back and forth between OME and this setup as a viable 2” option for me and ended up going the bilstein route.

    Thanks for the info!

6112>OME by a large margin. Good decision.

    Right on!

Now I need to research the right settings for a 2” lift. It sounds like some people will stagger to account for the “lean” so I called Rogue today to confirm and they suggested a spacer.

Most of the items came in today. There was a mix-up with my shipment from Rogue and my rear left bilstein didn’t arrive with the rest of the kit. I will give them credit, that the person I spoke with handled me well and my salt level was pretty high. They got me taken care of so other than the missing bilstein I am just waiting for my JBAs to arrive.

    Hopefully this weekend!

Also, I’ve seen a lot on the diff drop debate and I’m not doing it, but did get the EGCS bearing.

hope they get you the rear left -- last time I checked that shock was on National Back Order until May - but maybe Rogue has a special stash unlike most vendors and web providers. If not - well the rear left and right are the same shock - only difference is the brake line relocation kit.

Still no tracking info, as promised. I’m going to call in a bit, but I was a dick yesterday so giving them the benefit of the doubt. I don’t have a good feeling...

I ordered from 3 different vendors that said the were "in stock" at the time I ordered. None of them had them. Hope that is not your experience. I just ordered the rear right. I called Bilstein and they said just go to any auto parts store and get their brake line relocation kit - explain what Bilstein includes but is out of - they should have it. Got the shock now need to find aftermarket kit. Check Bilstein web page for part number of kit.

I was told yesterday they had it and it was being sent. If not, I’m returning it all and going to a new vendor. I’ve been given the runaround and am being patient as possibly, but if I was flat-out lied to about this then I would just dispute the CC charge and return and start fresh.

I’m aware, but that’s not what I bought.

I specified 3rd gen and purchased. Was called the next day and told 3rd gen is out of stock but 2nd gen would work and they would honor warranty since Bilstein would not. I wasn’t thrilled but agreed and couldn’t understand why stock status isn’t on the website.

Then I get tracking info for the shipment and plan my install accordingly, then after 3 of 3 packages arrive I had to inquire why I was missing something and then was told it was a split shipment. When I called to find out wtf is going on they said the back left is being shipped separately and then they told me exactly what you are mentioning. As someone who runs a business, the bottom line is that is their issue to solve and not mine, regardless of how “easy” it may be. I bought a specific kit, if you can’t deliver it, then don’t sell it as such. If this were all front-loaded and explained thoroughly then I would have been more open to such options. Not being made aware of these things until after I inquire is the problem. Again, as someone who runs a business in a tough industry (dairy) I’m not inclined to coddle or support sup-par business practices from others.

I’m hoping it shows up today, as promised but I’m not feeling confident.

if they sent you the 3 gen 6112 you should hold on to them - they too are on National Back Order until May - and when they come back into stock the prices are going to be higher. Sucks - I know. Since there is zero difference between the rear 5160 other than the brake line relocation kit you would be better off seeing it they will send you that in an after-market version. ?? otherwise you will be waiting until May or June or later. GL.

Bilstein will deny any warranty if you put a 2nd gen part on a 3rd gen. If that is the case I'd send it all back. OR make the seller put it on paper with a signature.
