Well, a bit of an update for those looking to the threads for information for themselves:

I put down a deposit on the truck, and signed a contract. Toyota is refusing to build the truck, because they won't put a premium package in any 2018 that isn't the inferno orange (I guess to get rid of that horrific color?). So I've been waiting 7.5 weeks for a truck that doesn't exist, and certainly won't anytime soon (if ever). I can't get a 2017 with the specs I want because they've started narrowing those down in production as well. So, pretty unhappy with Toyota in general right now.

Well they can't deliver what was agreed on in the contract so back out of it. Get your deposit back and start over some where else. Toyota is absolutely making 2018s with premium packages other than inferno orange. And you should be able to get an 18 close to invoice if you are willing to work at it. This Lake City dealership sounds weak at best. My guess is Lake City forgot to request your desired changes to the allocation when the time came. Toyota had it slated to be inferno and now it's already built so Lake City is spitting bull shit saying Toyota is only making infernos with the prem package so that you'll buy what they have.

Obviously your dealer has is lying or are idiots. There are all different color trucks sitting on lots with the premium package. I have one parked in my garage.

I think it has to do with the OP wanting a Manual transmission with them acting goofy about premium or tech packages. Just for the hell of it I went to Toyota.com and tried to build an 18 OR and it would only allow Quicksand with a Manual, tech package could be chosen but no premium.

That's just what's available in your area. Put in a different zip and you'll get different results. There's no doubt though, an MT with prem and tech is rare.

I am new to the forum. In the last few days, I purchased a 2018 White (yes, boring I know) 4x4 sport. The price was around $38K, with the tech package. The biggest reason for the 2018 decision was these models all now have the Pre-Collision packages. Which is exactly what I would want, since my GF would use the truck as well. That was not even offered on the 2017 models. I hope to have a good run with the truck.

I am in a similar situation, trying to purchase a 2018 TRD-OR DCSB 6MT with leather + moonroof. I suggest looking into Costco's car buying program - they have pre-negotiated prices on all of their vehicles, which don't appear to be any different if you have to order/locate one versus getting something right off the lot. I bought a one year Costco membership for ~ $60 (for a kid's playset actually) and a friend told me about the car buying service they offer. Apparently to be a Costco-affiliated dealer, the dealers have to follow a very strict set of rules, and you will end up providing feedback on the experience (I already got my email but haven't closed the deal so I'm waiting to fill it out) which Costco takes very seriously. I am in the middle of it right now but the Costco price I have for 2018 TRD-OR DCSB 6MT is several thousand below MSRP. I haven't closed yet so take it with a grain of salt.

It's not Lake City that I was dealing with, just so everyone knows.

And thank you to Doggman and Shakerhood, you guys are spot on. It sounds like JohnGalt and I are looking for the same thing - finding a 2018 TRD OR 4x4 M/T with Premium is just about impossible. When I started looking, you couldn't go through Costco because it was Nov. 2017 and there just wasn't an option yet, but I'll try again.

The dealer I've been working with has been upfront and honest, I do like him, but they should have told me that there were issues with the order not going through. I have a 2001 F-150 with a bad rear diff and the H-coils are shot, so I've been limping it along for the last 2 months until my new truck got here and now I'm back to square one and my current truck is falling apart and not starting.

Someday I'll get a Tacoma. Or another company will make a mid-size truck with a M/T with options. Whichever comes first I suppose.

I know in my area when I go to build one with M/T and that package I can only build one in Orange.

I think Toyota has a glut of 2017's still in the system.
