ordering a color NOT!

My cousin went to buy a Tundra from where I bought my Tacoma. So I get a call from him and he tell me. what kind of dealership is this?My cousin never owed a Toyota. He has owed lexus and a bunch of America cars german ect ect . So he tells me idk how you bought a car from them. so I asked him why, what happened? My cousin is in his mid 50's and never owed a car in any color except black! He begins to tell me he wanted a Tundra with every option in black . So I say ok . He sez the dealership said he had to take the color that came in. He could not get black. He said to the dealer I'm spending over 50K+ and your gonna tell me I cant get it in black fully loaded. I have to take the color you can get . Long story short he told them to keep it and he said he would go online and that no doubt he be able to find a tundra fully loaded in black. But I think now hes gonna get a Silverado oh well for Toyota. I didn't get the color I wanted I told him I wanted my Tacoma in black but the dealer told me forget it so I took the grey again because that what they could get . color I don't mind but someone like my cousin it really matters to. so ill let you know what he ends up with .I just thought it was strange that you cant get a color choice from Toyota I don't think there products that grand to tell people what color they can get especially when they have to build and wait for the truck weird !

 

Not sure what this has to do with Toyota.

The dealership told him black wasn't possible, and they're privately owned.

But hey, sucks anyway.

I'm telling you when I order my taco in October I think I wanted black or silver my 13 was grey he told me he could not get either color but grey and I waited till December for mine

 

Would've gone to another dealer.

I'm not spending a goddamn penny until they go get exactly what I want. Its the business they are in, its their job.

Them saying, "you'll have to take whatever color comes in with the options you want" is a round about way of them saying that they don't want your business. I hope you folks spoke to the manager and the dealership owner about this issue.

 

There loss as far as I'm concern . Next time they wont get me to buy another truck from that dealership .

When I bought my RAV4 in 2009, I told the Dealer exactly the color, the engine, and the options that I wanted. They didn't have one like it in stock, but the sales manager and/or salesman went on the Toyota regional search, and found one that matched what I wanted. It was brought in from another dealer in a different part of the state, and I had it the next day. A good dealer that wants your business should be more accommodating to the customer's requests then to tell you "You will take what we give you!"

The dealership can certainly get any color you want that is offered by Toyota. The problem you and you cousin had was the dealership wanted to sell you a vehicle THAT SAME DAY.... they don't want to order one for you, they want one from their lot gone, they tried that on you.... and succeeded.

no see my truck was a order it took 2 months I think to build it and I could not get it in black or silver he told me grey was the way it was gonna come

A dealer that is willing to do the legwork and wants to make a sale will get him the truck he wants. Tell him go to the Toyota website and search inventory. If he finds what he wants he can take it to them and see if they want to sell to him. If not, another dealer will, it's just a matter of getting a dealer transfer.

 

If you ordered it you should have been able to get what you wanted. I think your cousin was right," how did you buy a vehicle from them?"

 

Yea I agree with all of you. but truth be told if I wanted the truck order the way I wanted it that day he said it could only be grey and like I said I really don't mind grey my 2013 was grey my 2016 in the same color has matching color rims its real sweet as far as I'm care and tell you the truth in the end I'm happy with grey black is such a bitch to take care of especially Toyota makes a real nice wet black
