ordering a color NOT!

Dear Facebook:

 

funny thing is they said give 3 choices of color. I was like black ,sky silver, mgm grey. I don't know why he even bothered to ask me when he came back with that I could only get grey like hey Toyota is only making grey the week your trucks is being built atleast that what it seemed like lol hey don't forget I ordered mine last year in October maybe things where running behind or something. I know my cousin told them black, black and black other then that he wouldn t take anything else

 

I was trying to add some sensible input on this thread, then I realized who the OP was. I'm out.

 

truth is the truth idk why you all be hating on me so much what I post is the truth every post I have ever posted since I joined has been all true idk whats up with the people on this site but you all get crazy over nothing true story about the color thing believe me or not....

Basically did the same thing with my 16' SR5. The dealer had several with either the color I wanted but not the engine...the engine but not the options. I wanted a white (easy to find) SR5, DC, short bed, appearance package, and tow package. Dealer found one after a couple of weeks at another dealer over 300 miles away in another state. Had it delivered and after inspecting I completed the deal and took delivery. It had the added paint protection on the hood, mirrors, and front end which I didn't necessarily want but took it anyway. Even though this is a fairly basic configuration it still took a little time to find and the dealer was very patient. He said I didn't have to take it if I didn't like it as he sells them (the V6's) as fast as he gets them. For some strange reason most of the SR5's he had were 4 cyl. models. The sales manager said that just because another dealer has what that dealer's customer wants, it doesn't mean they would necessarily give their truck up.

 

See I guess when I got mine no dealers had any maybe that why but in the case of my cousin it didn't make sence at all

 

A 500 dollar deposit and 11 weeks got me exactly what
Tacoma and color I wanted. Go to the largest dealer in your area. There is a reason they are the largest. Walk in to the dealership, do not look at any truck and sit at the sales man desk and tell him what you want to buy. As soon as they try to redirect you just get up and walk away. Find another sales man or dealer.

 

You do yourself a disservice if you do not (1) figure out exactly what you want (build the vehicle online) and (2) search cars.com local dealer websites etc to see if one of them has what you want and (3) if you really want it, just order it.

Took me a couple weeks, but I found what I wanted (other than shucking out an extra $209 for floor mats).

 

Like you got the truck I wanted but also got stuck with the floor mats (after purchase ordered Weather Techs) and the paint protection (which I have come to like). The problem with building the vehicle online (Toyota's issue) is that you might want this out of one package and that out of another. For example: Wanted "Home Link" but didn't want to get the Limited to get that option.

 

If you mess around with it enough you will find what you can't get V. what is actually just not available. Thanks to our friend in Pittsburgh I got the two things I actually care about (intermittent and cruise) for $130. I own vehicles that are six figures but I am sick of dealing with the issues that come with them. I needed something that I could just drive and not worry about, hence, I got the working man's special taco.

 

I feel like there are more and more threads coming up about people complaining about Toyota, TW should start a new complaints section hahaha

 

The manual-transmission long box I wanted was only available in invisible.

 

Sounds like a dealer I went to in Cali. I wanted a specific color but they told me what 3 colors would I be happy with and they would try to get either one of them. I didn't end up going with them and went to another dealer who had the color I wanted...

 

See some people on here make it like I'm not being truthful about this post . But it is the truth that how it went believe me or not . For those of us who may have ran into similar problems I brought mine in sept or October I think they started building my truck in nov 4th or it was I think December 4th I'm not sure but they did not have none ready maybe that had to do with the reason I didn't get my first choice instead I got my third choice .

 

OP, I don't think anyone thinks you are lying, just telling you that this is a dealer thing and not "Toyota". You were told the story (lied to) that 50% of dealers tell to sell what is on their lot. The facts are you can get whatever options Toyota offers, but you may have to wait. You also have to go to a different dealer who wants to work a tiny bit for a sale. When I bought my 08, I was literally told that "Toyota doesn't make a DCLB in the sport". I even showed him a pic in the brochure. He was insistent. A week later, I bough the exact truck from a dealer 50 miles away. I drove it by the local dealership and the guy had the nerve to say "You should have called me and I would have had it transferred".

Anyway, salespeople will lie. Find one who lies less.

 

Try getting it with leather and heated seats you ll either wait a real long time or they won't deliver I bet j know there were some made like that good luck put it in a special order . Like you said take what they have from inventory I got that but I had order and waited and got my third choice of color
