Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I haven't been to the VA specifically, but...my mom spent a fair amount of time at OHSU. They're both on top of the hill above where I work. I know for a fact that from OHSU you can walk across the sky bridge to the VA...plenty of wandering around time during her recovery. There's plenty of parking on the OHSU side, and so I'm assuming the same is true on the VA side.

You didn't say if you were coming from south specifically (although "up in Portland" indicates so), so here's a link to Google Maps from Salem:

Looks fairly easy to get to. Take exit 298 from I-5 North and then a few more turns and you're there.

My ex was a fighter. Always getting pissed a guy if they even looked at me or said hi.

Turn on? I think not... hahah more annoying. Even after we broke up he is still like that if he sees me out with guys.

Thankfully hes up in Alaska on a boat all summer. Freedom :)

405 exit 6th street if coming from the South/Broadway if coming from 26 or the North. Right on 6th street turns into Terwilliger. Right at the light (Terwilliger signs to VA/Dornbechers/Casey Eye). Right on US Veterans Hospital Rd. There is a parking structure on the Left as you make your first turn up the hill. Or there is another one when you make your way up to the Hosptial

I should have picked a different MOS. Infantry sucks now in hindsight. Can you get veterans preference points before you separate from the army? It seems every online application requires it, and also is there a way to get your dd214 before youre out of the army so you're not screwed being jobless?

Yes, you have 5 point preference right now. If you can manage to get a claim approved through the VA at even 10% disability (one bum knee, tinnitus, etc) you get 10 points. You can start your VA claim 6 months out, talk to DAV, American Legion, or the VFW hall back home to get started, or PM me if you don't know any old duffers. Those wrinkly fuckers know the system better than anyone. 10 points gets your resume to the top of the pile. Next in line are 5 points, then civilians. Negative on the DD214. They will hand you a working copy one day before ETS so you can annotate any discrepancies, but you can't leave the room with it. I got a job with a contractor on post as a transition job. Every day I cruised usajobs and applied for anything I was qualified for and after a year got hired. The Federal hiring process, like anything .gov, moves like pond water. If I were you, instead of uploading the DD214 I would have an S1 puke type up a "letter of intent" on official Army letterhead saying you are active duty with a projected ETS date of xx/xx/2014 with an anticipated honorable discharge. When you actually get your DD214, delete the letter and upload that. You won't get hired until after you ETS anyway, and most apps have a section for "availability date".

I know it seems overwhelming. Don't sweat it, it will all work out. There is a large network of dudes who have been through this same shit to help you. PM me with any questions. I'm pretty smart on translating .mil tasks to civilian too-

Yea, I just asked about the letter of intent. I'm going to have my CoC write that up tomorrow. I cruise through usajobs everyday, and only things that I can do is law enforcement. I have gotten in contact with WA state police and the MN state police. Once I get the letter of intent from my CoC I will go through those applications and submit them. I guess I figured the hiring process for a federal or even a state job would take forever. I just need a job/plan for the in between time. Luckily for me WA is growing their State Police by a lot in the next few years so I think I have a good chance. I was going to start looking for what I want to go to school I think criminal justice would be good and may me look a little better.

    thanks doode!:D

Don't forget to check the Federal Protective Services if you are looking. Yes they are under Homeland Security but they are not the same as the TSA pukes. They are actually the Federal Cops and they love to take ex-Mil into their ranks. Also if you have any skills whatsoever file for any job that strikes your fancy on USAJOBS.gov with a progression (GS 5,7,9) for example. These are intake jobs and they will train you in your profession.

So I have been thinking about suspension upgrades for my truck. My original plan was to go with a 3" or so lift, but wife and I have it in mind to get an SUV later, which will likely be the main trailer puller. That makes me want to look into a bit more suspension than only 3". Can anybody suggest names to look into for a 6" lift? I am looking to still have a wheeling truck, not a racer. In using google, I saw camburg and fabtech, but didn't really find anything else.
Edit: no spacers, or add a leaf (whole new leaf pack is is good though). I want a fully functional setup
